2012 December 31 - Morning Manna

Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon. And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil. But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us. But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me. But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs. And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table. Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour. (Matthew 15:21-28)

Today's Morsel: There seems to be many times that Jesus found himself, what seemed like, having to make some tough decisions as to who He would help and not help. When His mother, Mary, told Him at the wedding feast that they didn't have any more wine, He said, "Woman what have I to do with thee, my hour is not yet come." When the multitude followed him and needed something to eat, He told His disciples to give them something to eat. When they told Him that Lazarus his friend was sick, He delayed His coming until He was dead. One could easily get to the point where they think that God isn't fair and that He picks and chooses who He will help. But God isn't that way. He said, "I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy." God is sovereign and He can do as He wishes. But once you become His, He will never leave you nor will He ever forsake you. But no matter who one is, whether Jew or Gentile, when you worship Him, He will answer you. All indications in today's passage is that Jesus would not answer nor give this woman her request. He told her, "It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs;" and she said, "Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table. Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt." You see, many people will come and worship Jesus when they need something. These are the ones that worship Him with their lips only. But true worshippers will worship Him in spirit and in truth; they will worship Him no matter the situation they are in. This woman proved her sincere worship when she told Jesus that if eating crumbs from the floor as a dog would grant her wish, she was willing to do that. Jesus saw her faith. What does Jesus see in you when you come to Him for something? Remember, He always look on the heart.

Sing: Where could I go, oh where could I go, seeking a refuge for my soul? Needing a friend to help me in the end, where could I go but to the Lord?

2012 December 29 - Morning Manna

But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
(1 Thessalonians 4:13-18)
Today's Morsel: I am often asked where a person goes when they die. Some teache that they go to a holding place or a place called purgatory, but I don't find that in scripture. Paul said that we should, "Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame. But some man will say, How are the dead raised up? and with what body do they come?"(1 Corinthians 15:34-35). And so for us to understand this concept, Paul gave us an analogy of a seed and flesh to explain it. He said, "Thou fool, that which thou sowest is not quickened, except it die: And that which thou sowest, thou sowest not that body that shall be, but bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other grain: But God giveth it a body as it hath pleased him, and to every seed his own body. All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds. There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another. There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory. So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption: It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power: It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body. And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit. Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven. As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly. And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly. Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption" (1 Corinthians 15:36-50). When we are born again and we walk according to God's word and live our lives according to His word, should we die, we are quickened with Christ. Paul said that he would rather be absent from the body and present with Christ ( 2 Corinthians 5:8). Solomon said, "Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it" (Ecclesiastes 12:7). Paul goes on to say, " Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory" (1 Corinthians 15:51-54). Paul isn't referring to those who are already dead. He is talking about those who are dead in Christ and who are still alive. Because he told the church at Thessalonica, "For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him" (1 Thessalonians 4:14). John also said, "And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held: And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth? And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled" (Revelation 6:9-11). We need to comfort one another with these words, because to be absent from this body as a true born again believer will indeed carry us home to be with Jesus.
Sing: And O' I want to see Him look upon His face, there to sing forever of His saving grace, on the streets of glory, let me lift my voice. Cares all passed, home at last, ever to rejoice.

2012 December 28 - Morning Manna

Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law. Is he the God of the Jews only? is he not also of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also: Seeing it is one God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith. Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law. (Romans 3:19-31)
Today's Morsel: Many people have a misunderstanding of the law of the Bible. Some think that the law was done away with. The ceremonial laws maybe, but not the moral law. Scripture said, "But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people" (Jeremiah 31:33). "For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people: And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest" (Hebrews 8:10-11). Why did God implement the law? Paul said that it was because of sin. (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law. Romans 5:13). He further stated, "Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith" (Galatians 3:24). David said that the law of the Lord is perfect converting the soul (Psalms 19:7). When the law is observed and followed it changes us. "But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully; Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine; According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust"(1 Timothy 1:8-11). The law is good Paul said. And if God's law is written upon your heart, you can say as the psalmist, "Give me understanding, and I shall keep thy law; yea, I shall observe it with my whole heart" (Psalms 119:34). When we obey the law and follow the law, it keep us from sin.
Sing: The law of the Lord is perfect converting the soul, the testimonies of the Lord are sure, making wise the simple.
More to be the desired are they then gold, much fine gold, sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.

2012 December 27 - Morning Manna

I will sing of mercy and judgment: unto thee, O LORD, will I sing. I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way. O when wilt thou come unto me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart. I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me" (Psalms 101:1-3)

Today's Morsel: "A few months before I was born, my dad met a stranger who was new to our small Tennessee town. From the beginning, Dad was fascinated with this enchanting newcomer, and soon invited him to live with our family. The stranger was quickly accepted and was around to welcome me into the world a few months later.
As I grew up I never questioned his place in our family. In my young mind, each member had a special niche. My brother, Bill, five years my senior, was my example. Fran, my younger sister, gave me an opportunity to play 'big brother' and develop the art of teasing. My parents were complementary instructors--Mom taught me to love the word of God, and Dad taught me to obey it.
But the stranger was our storyteller. He could weave the most fascinating tales. Adventures, mysteries and comedies were daily conversations. He could hold our whole family spell-bound for hours each evening.
If I wanted to know about politics, history, or science, he knew it all. He knew about the past, understood the present, and seemingly could predict the future. The pictures he could draw were so life like that I would often laugh or cry as I watched.
He was like a friend to the whole family. He took Dad, Bill and me to our first major league baseball game. He was always encouraging us to see the movies and he even made arrangements to introduce us to several movie stars. My brother and I were deeply impressed by John Wayne in particular.
The stranger was an incessant talker. Dad didn't seem to mind, but sometimes Mom would quietly get up-- while the rest of us were enthralled with one of his stories of faraway places-- go to her room, read her Bible and pray. I wonder now if she ever prayed that the stranger would leave.
You see, my dad ruled our household with certain moral convictions. But this stranger never felt an obligation to honor them. Profanity, for example, was not allowed in our house-- not from us, from our friends, or adults. Our longtime visitor, however, used occasional four letter words that burned my ears and made Dad squirm. To my knowledge, the stranger was never confronted. My dad was a teetotaler who didn't permit alcohol in his home - not even for cooking. But the stranger felt like we needed exposure and enlightened us to other ways of life. He offered us beer and other alcoholic beverages often.
He made cigarettes look tasty, cigars manly, and pipes distinguished. He talked freely (probably too much and too freely) about sex. His comments were sometimes blatant, sometimes sugestive, and generally embarrassing. I know now that my early concepts of the man-woman relationship were influenced by the stranger,
As I look back, I believe it was the grace of God that the stranger did not influence us more. Time after time he opposed the values of my parents. Yet he was seldom rebuked and never asked to leave.
More than thirty years have passed since the stranger moved in with the young family on Morningside Drive. He is not nearly so intriguing to my Dad as he was in those early years. But if I were to walk into my parents' den today, you would still see him sitting over in a corner, waiting for someone to listen to him talk and watch him draw his pictures.
His name? We always just called him TV." -Told by Keith Currie

The Psalmist said, "I will set no wicked thing before my eyes, I hate the work of them that turn aside, it shall not cleave unto me." What about you?

Sing: Oh, Be careful little eyes watch you see! Be careful little eyes watch you see! For the father up above is looking down from above so Be careful little eyes watch you see!

So be careful little ears what you hear! So be careful little ears what you hear! For the father up above is looking down from above so Be careful little ears watch you hear!

So be careful little hands what you do! So be careful little hands what you do! For the father up above is looking down from above, so be careful little hands what you do!

So be care little feet where you go! So be care little feet where you go! For the father up above is looking down from above, so be care little feet where you go!

2012 December 26 - Morning Manna

But truly I am full of power by the spirit of the LORD, and of judgment, and of might, to declare unto Jacob his transgression, and to Israel his sin. (Micah 3:8)

Today's Morsel: A lion woke up one morning with an overbearing desire to remind his fellow creatures that he was king of the jungle. So he marched over to a monkey and roared: "Who is the mightiest animal in the jungle?" "You are, Master," said the monkey, quivering.

Then the lion came across a wildebeest. "Who is the mightiest animal in the jungle?" roared the lion. "You are, Master," answered the wildebeest, shaking with fear.

Next the lion met an elephant. "Who is the mightiest animal in the jungle?" roared the lion. The elephant grabbed the lion with his trunk, slammed him repeatedly against a tree, dropped him like a stone and ambled off. "All right," shouted the lion. "There's no need to turn nasty just because you don't know the answer." (Humor)

When we look at God's creation, it's amazing to me that an elephant is afraid of a mouse. Or that some of the larger and robust animals are afraid of smaller ones. Some people think that the devil is powerful. But Isaiah tells us, "They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms" (Isaiah 14:16). Satan is nothing but a declawed, toothless lion on a chain. Jesus took away his power at Calvary. David said, "God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God" (Psalms 62:11). Jesus said that all power in heaven and earth belong to Him (Matthew 28:18). So when Christ's Spirit comes into your life, you too should say as Micah, " But truly I am full of power by the spirit of the LORD, and of judgment, and of might, to declare unto Jacob his transgression, and to Israel his sin." "But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth" (Acts 1:8). The Holy Ghost makes you strong, even when you think that you are weak. You just need to stir it up.

Sing: There is power! Power! Wonder working power in the Blood of the Lamb. There is Power! Power! Wonder working power in the precious Blood of the Lamb!

2012 December 24 - Morning Manna

And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary. And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women. And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be. And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end. Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God. And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren. For with God nothing shall be impossible. And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her. (Luke 1:26-38)
Today's Morsel: When we look at the Christmas Story, many fail to understanding the picture that is being painted here with Mary. What was going on here? How was Mary going to conceive without knowing a man? We all understand that it takes a man and a woman to birth a child. The angel Gabriel told Mary, "The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God." John said, " Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is" (1 John 3:1-2). What makes you a son of God? The Holy Ghost. "But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his" (Romans 8:9). You can only be called a son of God by the Spirit of God. This is why Jesus in His humanity was called the Son of God. He's never called God the son because He was God. This miraculous birth was done by the Spirit of God. Jesus told the woman at the well, "God is a Spirit..." (John 4:24). And John wrote that, "For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one" (1 John 5:7). Notice, they are one, there is no division here. The word was made flesh and dwelt amongst us (John 1:14). Jesus was the Father in creation (Colossians 1:16), He is the Son in Redemption (Galatians 4:5; Titus 2:14), and He is the Holy Ghost in operation ( Luke 12:12; John 14:26; Acts 2:1-4; Acts 4:8; Acts 8; Acts 9; Acts 10; Acts 16; Acts 22). Mary knew what it felt like to be filled with the Holy Ghost and to birth a Son of God. This is why she didn't hesitate to go to the upper room and wait with the disciple for the Day of Pentecost (Acts 1:14), because she wanted to be filled again with God's Spirit and birth more sons of God. And we, too, are filled with God's Spirit for one purpose, to birth sons of God so those sons can birth more sons of God. Remember, Mary had to have the seed planted inside her to conceive. The seed is the Word of God (Luke 8; 1 John 5:7). Don't be confused with the natural, as it has a spiritual application.
Sing: Mary did you know that your baby boy would someday walk on water?
Mary did you know that your baby boy would save our sons and daughters?
Did you know that your baby boy has come to make you new?
This child that you've delivered, will soon deliver you.

Mary did you know that your baby boy would give sight to a blind man?
Mary did you know that your baby boy would calm a storm with his hand?
Did you know that your baby boy has walked where angels trod?
And when your kiss your little baby, you have kissed the face of God.

Oh Mary did you know

The blind will see, the deaf will hear, the dead will walk again.
The lame will leap, the dumb will speak, the praises of the lamb

Mary did you know that your baby boy is Lord of all creation?
Mary did you know that your baby boy would one day rule the nations?
Did you know that your baby boy is heaven's perfect Lamb?
This sleeping child you're holding is the great I am.

2012 December 22 - Morning Manna

And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. (Luke 2:8-14)
Today's Morsel: What would you do if you looked up in to the sky and saw a host of angels praising God and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men? Well this is what happened in Bethlehem over 2000 years ago at the birth of Jesus. The heavenly host announced His arrival just as scripture said that they would. This annunciation by the angels that a Savior had been born, even today, should cause us to be excited and ready to worship Him. Many in Jesus' time were looking for Him to come, but others were not. Some, like today, had no idea what it was all about. Many people wondered what the shepherds told them, and even today, many still wonder when the shepherd, their pastor, tells them. But not Mary. Scripture says that she kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart. And even the shepherds, when they had seen Jesus returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them. What is your response when you hear the gospel? It is the good news about Jesus Christ, you know?
Sing: Said the little lamb to the shepherd boy, do you hear what I hear, ringing through the sky shepherd boy,. Do you hear what I hear? A song, a song high above the tree with a voice as big as the sea, with a voice as big as the sea

Said the shepherd boy to the mighty king, do you know what I know, in your palace wall mighty king. Do you know what I know? A child, a child, shivers in the cold, let us bring him silver and gold, let us bring him silver and gold

Said the king to the people everywhere, listen to what I say, pray for peace people everywhere. Listen to what I say, the child, the child, sleeping in the night, He will bring us goodness and light, He will bring us goodness and light.

2012 December 21 - Morning Manna

And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed. (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.) And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city. And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:) To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child. And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn. (Luke 2:1-14)
Today's Morsel: I often wonder why we seem to wait until the month of December to tell the Christmas story. Didn't Jesus commission us to go preach the gospel to every creature? "And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover" (Mark 16:15-18). So why do so many wait until December to do it? I recently read in a magazine that most Christians are afraid to share their faith with others. Why do we go about wanting to do more good deeds in December than the rest of the year? Our church leaders decided that we wouldn't knock on doors this coming year to share the gospel and invite people to church, but rather we would go about doing good deeds for our neighbors, like baking, and being more involved in community projects. As born again believers, Jesus said that we should be letting our light shine. Therefore, we should be telling the world everyday and on every opportunity we get to share Jesus. I believe that many would enjoy Christmas so much more if they knew what it meant before December. Every day we should be proclaiming as the angels did, saying to the people, "Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord." "But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them" Paul said (2 Corinthians 4:3-4). People can't be saved without Jesus Christ in their lives. And it is our duty to tell them. Not only in December, but all year long .
Sing: Go tell it on the mountain, over the hill and everywhere. Go tell it on the mountain, that Jesus Christ is born!

2012 December 20 - Morning Manna

Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations: That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls. (1 Peter 1:6-9)

Today's Morsel: I'm sure that most of you reading this morsel today have had your faith tested. And some of you are having it tested right now. There are always going to be circumstances and situations that are going to determine your faith level. If faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God, how strong is your faith today? One would think that if a born again believer spends every week in church, conducts his or her own daily devotions, listens to preaching and wholesome godly music throughout their day, their faith would be unshakable. So why are so many shaken by the unexpected, unforeseen, or circumstances of life when they have been given exceeding and precious promises from God of always being with them? Peter said, "Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations: That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ." I have heard many Christians say that what they are going through is of the devil. Well, I think that that would be good because God is allowing him to test you the same way he did Job. And it is an indicator of God 's confidence in your abilities. But on the other hand, Peter tell us, "But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men's matters. Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf. For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?" (1 Peter 4:15-17). So if what you are going through is because you are a Christian, you'll come out just fine. But if not, you do the math. I will let you in on a little secret, "Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. But faith stands in the demonstration and power of almighty God." Count it all joy.

Sing: Faith can move mountains, mountains of fear and of doubt, faith can move mountains, so why don't you try your faith out.

2012 December 19 - Morning Manna

Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also. Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier. (2 Timothy 2:1-4)
Today's Morsel: Every so often my mind will go back to my military days, and I begin to think of some of the intense training that I had to endure to be called a good soldier. (When people ask me about some of the medals I earned while in the military, I will tell them that I got certain ones for being a road guard or pulling Kitchen Police (KP) - Humor). We were required to do 25-mile forced marches. Stand guard and sleep on the ground in the cold and snow of Germany. Endure the sweltering heat in the triple canopy jungles of Viet Nam. I have endured sand storms and the intense heat of Saudi Arabia; stayed up three or four days with limited sleep to get the mission done. These are are just a few of the things done to in being a good soldier. All this to please those who chose me to be a soldier. But when we turn to the church, many do not have that same commitment and dedication to endure. Many join, but soon go AWOL or want out. Many will quit and walk away because they see it as being too hard. When in reality, the church is easy, they just make it hard. I was told from the time that I enlisted in the military, that I was a soldier 24-hours a day and that my actions, conduct, dress and appearance, behavior, activities and manners, not only reflected upon me as a soldier, but they also reflected upon the organization of which I was a part of. When we become born again Christians, Jesus chooses us to be on His team, a part of His organization. Therefore, we must learn how to conduct ourselves accordingly, as we are now His representatives. Paul calls us ambassadors for Christ. When we understand who we are and to what we belong, we should do nothing to bring about reproach against that to which we belong. We need to learn to endure hardness as good soldiers, soldiers for Jesus Christ.
Sing: I'm a soldier, in God's Army, and I'm fighting, I'm claiming victory. I will not give up, I will not turn around, I'm a soldier marching heaven bound.

2012 December 18 - Morning Manna

O worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness: fear before him, all the earth. Say among the heathen that the LORD reigneth: the world also shall be established that it shall not be moved: he shall judge the people righteously. Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad; let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof. Let the field be joyful, and all that is therein: then shall all the trees of the wood rejoice Before the LORD: for he cometh, for he cometh to judge the earth: he shall judge the world with righteousness, and the people with his truth. (Psalms 96:9-13)
Today's Morsel: He's making a list, he checking it twice, he's gonna find out if you've been naughty or nice, Santa Claus is coming to town. I'm one that believes that Santa Claus gets a bad rap. The Jolly Old Fellow is only trying to bring joy, elation and excitement back which is missing in most peoples' lives, even in children. People are hurting, stressed and without love and he (Santa) is trying to do what Jesus told us do; Freely you have received, freely give. I like the Jolly Old Fellow. Not because I want gifts, but because I see a guy who cares. I see a guy who is willing to sacrifice himself to make others feel a little happier. I know that reindeer don't fly. But who cares, if it brings a hurting child some excitement, or draws a family or someone to understand the true meaning of Christmas. Jesus said, "And the lord commended the unjust steward, because he had done wisely: for the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light" (Luke 16:8). When we flip the pages, the psalmist was telling us that Jesus is coming. He said, "Let the field be joyful, and all that is therein: then shall all the trees of the wood rejoice Before the LORD: for he cometh, for he cometh to judge the earth: he shall judge the world with righteousness, and the people with his truth." He's coming to judge the earth. He's coming to find out if you've been naughty or nice. He's coming to see if you've done what He's asked of you. So before you bash Old Saint Nick, you may want to ask yourself, "How many hours have I devoted to making someone happy? How many hours have I spent baking to encourage a neighbor? How many hours have I sang carols to bring someone some joy and hope? How many wet, sticky kids ( young and old) have I held on my lap so family memories could be captured?" "Behold He cometh," the psalmist said. And when He get here, where will your name appear on Jesus' list? "Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity" Jesus said (Matthew 7:21-23).
Sing: Are you ready should the Savior call today? Would Jesus say well done or go away? My home is for the pure, the vile can never stay, we shall see the King when He comes.
We shall see the King! We shall see the King! We shall see the King when He comes. He's coming in His power, we'll hail the blessed hour, we shall see the King when He comes.

2012 December 17 - Morning Manna

When I lie down, I say, When shall I arise, and the night be gone? and I am full of tossings to and fro unto the dawning of the day. My flesh is clothed with worms and clods of dust; my skin is broken, and become loathsome. (Job 7:4-5).
Today's Morsel: When I was a kid, there was this song entitled, "Tossing and Turning." Some of the words were, "I couldn't sleep at all last night, for just a thinking about you... kicked the blanket on the floor turned my pillow upside down. The jist was that he was thinking about his sweetheart and couldn't get to sleep. And then there was this commercial which offered a certain drug for those who had sleepless nights. Many people seem to be suffering from the condition of insomnia these day. Their lives seem to be all tied up in a knot. They are suffering from sleepless nights due to worry, stress, sickness, grief, remorse, or bad decisions. Me, I don't have that problem. My Bible says,"It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep" (Psalms 127:2). Isaiah encourages us by saying, "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee" (Isaiah 26:3). Job found himself tossing and turning all night due to his sickness. But something got into Job's heart and he cried out to his friends, "Hold your peace, let me alone, that I may speak, and let come on me what will. Wherefore do I take my flesh in my teeth, and put my life in mine hand? Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him. He also shall be my salvation: for an hypocrite shall not come before him" (Job 13:13-16). Even though I'm tossing and turning, Job said, God is still my salvation and hope. And no matter how many nights I go without sleep, "He knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold" (Job 23:10).
Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning ( Psalms 30:5). "Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein" (Jeremiah 6:16).
Sing:
1. LORD, how are they increased that trouble me! Many arethey that rise up against me. Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God.
Chorus: But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head (2X).
2. I cried unto the LORD with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained me. (Chorus)
3. I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselvesagainst me round about (2X). (Chorus)

2012 December 15 - Morning Manna

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish. (Psalms 1:1-6)
Today's Morsel: What goes through your mind when you hear someone say that they are blessed. Do you ask yourself when they say that, am I blessed? Why do the Scriptures present such wording as being blessed and the blessing of the Lord was upon them/him. Well, God is in the blessing business and all of those who say that they are His should be blessed. The word "blessed" here in Psalms 1 means, happiness. When we walk according to the ways of God, we will be happy. What was it about Solomon's servants that Bathsheba would say, "Happy are thy men, happy are these thy servants, which stand continually before thee, and that hear thy wisdom" (1 Kings 10:8)? It was because Solomon was walking according to the ways of the Lord. There is no true happiness in the life of the wicked. Job said that the man that God corrects is happy. "Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty" (Job 5:17). God corrects us by His word. So when our lives are in line with God's word and we know our God, happiness come forth. Happy is that people, that is in such a case: yea, happy is that people, whose God is the LORD. (Psalms 144:15). Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God (Psalms 146:5). If you aren't happy, who's your God and where do you put your hope? The joy of the Lord is your strength.
Sing: If you're happy and you know it, say amen! Say amen! If your happy and you know it, say Amen! Amen! When God's Spirit falls on you, makes you shout Hallelujah, if you're happy and you know it say amen!

2012 December 14 - Morning Manna

And it came to pass, that as he was come nigh unto Jericho, a certain blind man sat by the way side begging: And hearing the multitude pass by, he asked what it meant. And they told him, that Jesus of Nazareth passeth by. And he cried, saying, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me. And they which went before rebuked him, that he should hold his peace: but he cried so much the more, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me. And Jesus stood, and commanded him to be brought unto him: and when he was come near, he asked him, Saying, What wilt thou that I shall do unto thee? And he said, Lord, that I may receive my sight. And Jesus said unto him, Receive thy sight: thy faith hath saved thee. And immediately he received his sight, and followed him, glorifying God: and all the people, when they saw it, gave praise unto God. (Luke 18:35-43)

Today's Morsel: Do you allow the crowd to silence your worship? Do you allow what others may say or think to cause you to hide the light of Christ from shining through your life? Wouldn't it be sad that if everyone you worked with and your neighbors didn't know that you were a Christian? You know the same constitution that gives people the right to not be a Christian, gives you the right to be one. Being a Christian isn't a position, it's a lifestyle. You see, the devil and his forces know what a Christian is suppose to look like and be like. But sad to say, too many that say they are Christians, don't know what they are suppose to look and be like. Paul tried to help us when he wrote to the church at Corinth, "Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God." (2 Corinthians 6:14-7:1). Because many do not want others to know that they are Christians, they keep silent when Jesus is passing by. But not the blind man in today's Scripture. As soon as he heard that it was Jesus passing by, he cried out. And when everyone tried to get him to be silent, he cried out louder. We should not allow others to silence us from calling out to Jesus. For He said, "And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me" (Psalms 50:15).

Sing: Pass me not, O gentle Savior, hear my humble cry; while on others Thou art calling, do not pass me by.

Savior, Savior, hear my humble cry; while on others Thou are calling, do not pass me by.

2012 December 13 - Morning Manna

Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all; But is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father. Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world: But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ. (Galatians 4:1-7)
Today's Morsel: There for a while, many wanted to see President Obama's birth certificate to prove that he was an American citizen. Granted, there have been many fake birth certificates by some to gain access to certain countries and privileges. A birth certificate can do just that. Paul informs us, "But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father." He said that we were adopted into the family of God. I don't know about you, but I was lost without Jesus in my life. Paul told the church at Ephesus, "For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God" (Ephesians 3:14-19). Christians are all named after Jesus Christ. We take on that name in the waters of baptism. John tell us, "In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother" (1 John 3:10). Whose family do you belong? Always remember, the acorn does not fall far from the tree.
Sing: God sent His son, they called Him Jesus, He came to love, heal, and forgive; He lived and died to buy my pardon, an empty grave is there to prove my Savior lives.
Because He lives, I can face tomorrow, because He lives all fear is gone; because I know He holds the future. And life is worth the living just because He lives.

2012 December 12 - Morning Manna

Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation. The LORD God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds' feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places (Habakkuk 3:17-19).

Today's Morsel: I really love this passage of scripture spoken here by Habakkuk. This passage draws our attention to the importance of not allowing things to stop us from rejoicing and praising the Lord. Often, many will lose their joy and excitement about serving God when their material possessions or livelihood is being tested. But as Christians, we should not allow anything to stop us from being excited about what God is doing and has done for us. If our lives are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets and Jesus is the Chief corner stone, then our attitudes and aspirations have got to reflect what we stand on and are built upon; The Way, The Truth and The Life, Jesus Christ. As I told our church the other day, there is no scripture that tells you to be discouraged. You just need to remove the "dis" and be filled with courage. The scripture admonishes us, "Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest" (Joshua 1:9). How much more encouragement do we need to maintain our rejoicing in Him? Habakkuk said, A"lthough the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation. The LORD God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds' feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places."

Sing: I'm pressing on the upward way, new heights I'm gaining every day; still praying as I'm onward bound, "Lord, plant my feet on higher ground."

Lord lift me up and let me stand, by faith on heaven's table land. A higher plane than I have found; Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.

2012 December 11 - Morning Manna

O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy; And gathered them out of the lands, from the east, and from the west, from the north, and from the south. They wandered in the wilderness in a solitary way; they found no city to dwell in. Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them. Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them out of their distresses. And he led them forth by the right way, that they might go to a city of habitation. Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!(Psalms 107:1-8).
Today's Morsel: How long ago has it been since you have been without? I have noticed that not one promise that God made in His Word has failed. Everything that He said, will come to pass. And so the psalmist said that we ought to give thanks unto the Lord because He is good. God is good all the time. These aren't just words to say in the hype of the moment when things are going good for you. These are words for you to live by. These are words that keep you on the right pathway. These are words you teach your children and testify of. These are words when you are walking around in your home and driving your car that you realize how good God really is. God is good all the time. He can't change who He is. David said, "Goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life." Therefore, we ought not to just praise the LORD for His goodness, but also for His wonderful works to the children of men. If you don't think God has your best interest at heart, try living without Him.
Sing: Praise Him! Praise Him! Praise Him in the morning, praise Him in the noon time. Praise Him! Praise Him! Praise Him when the sun goes down.

2012 December 10 - Morning Manna

And he said, Hear ye now, O house of David; Is it a small thing for you to weary men, but will ye weary my God also? Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel
(Isaiah 7:13-14).
Today's Morsel: I can remember as kids when we had a secret and we wanted to share it with our friends and we didn't want them to tell anyone else, we would say to them, "Cross your heart and hope to die." In other words, this was the sign that if they told, God would strike them dead. Thank God, He didn't strike us because we sure told others; at least I sometimes did. I've also noticed some Christian folks who cross their heart when they finish praying and before eating. Are they giving a sign that they are going to fulfill their vows or that they are ready to eat? Signs. Paul told the church at Corinth, "For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe. For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom: But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness; But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God"(1 Corinthians 1:18-24). The cross was a sign of the power and wisdom of God, Paul said. Jesus told Nicodemus what sign the cross was when He told him, "And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life" (John 3:14-15). In the Army, the sign that one belongs to the Medical Corps is their uniform in-signet, the serpent upon the pole. It was a symbol for the healing of the nation. Jesus on the cross was not only for our healing, but for our salvation as well.
Isaiah said, "Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel." "Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily. But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife: And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS" (Matthew 1:18-25). If you want to know who Jesus Christ was, here's your sign. God in flesh (1 Timothy 3:16; John 1:1;14).
Sing: Hail the heaven born Prince of peace, hail the Sun of righteousness! Light and life to all He brings, risen with healing in His wings: Mild He lays His glory by, born that man no more may die; born to raise the sons of earth, born to give them second birth.  Hark! the herald angels sing, "Glory to the new-born King."

2012 December 8 - Morning Manna

Let God arise, let his enemies be scattered: let them also that hate him flee before him (Psalms 68:1).

Today's Morsel: A story is told of an elderly lady who love the Lord very much. During every church service, no matter who was preaching, after a few minutes, if the preaching didn't mention something about the resurrection of Jesus Christ, she would say in her low soft voice, "Get Him up now!" In other words, the Gospel is about Jesus, so don't waste too much time talking about all the other stuff. David said, "Let God arise, let his enemies be scattered." When we elevate Jesus, demons will flee. "And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover", Jesus said.(Mark 16:15-18). Notice, these things only happen if the Gospel is preached and people believe and are baptized in Jesus' name. The Gospel elevates Jesus and in baptism we put Him on (Galatians 3:27-29). James tells us, " Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble"(James 2:19). As a child of God, if you have enemies, then they are God's enemies, too. So let Him be seen in a powerful way in your life, and your enemies will scatter.

Sing: Let God arise and His enemies be scattered. Let God arise and His enemies be scattered. Let God arise and His enemies be scattered. Let God! Let God arise!

My God arose and my enemies were scattered. My God arose and my enemies were scattered. My God arose and my enemies were scattered. My God! My God arose!

2012 December 7 - Morning Manna

Pilate saith unto them, What shall I do then with Jesus which is called Christ? They all say unto him, Let him be crucified. And the governor said, Why, what evil hath he done? But they cried out the more, saying, Let him be crucified. When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye to it. Then answered all the people, and said, His blood be on us, and on our children. Then released he Barabbas unto them: and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified. Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the common hall, and gathered unto him the whole band of soldiers. And they stripped him, and put on him a scarlet robe. And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand: and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews! And they spit upon him, and took the reed, and smote him on the head. And after that they had mocked him, they took the robe off from him, and put his own raiment on him, and led him away to crucify him. (Matthew 27:22-31)
Today's Morsel: On December 7, 1941, the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan. President Franklin D. Roosevelt's said that it would become, "a date which will live on in infamy." It would become a date of shameful or criminal conduct or character. It would be a publicly known infamous act and event. When we turn to Calvary, it is a date that lives on in infamy. This act of shameful and criminal conduct against our Savior was totally uncalled for. But because of man's pride and self-centeredness, Peter said, "Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain: Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it" (Acts 2:23-24). When one of the Japanese pilots returned to their aircraft carrier and reported what they had done, their admiral told him he had awakened a sleeping giant. America declared war upon Japan for their act. Thus unleashing power upon the empire of Japan. Even though Calvary was a shameful and criminal act, it unleashed power. After three days, Jesus arose and sent back the Holy Ghost, unleashing the power upon the kingdom of darkness. If you've read the back of the book, we win.
Sing: There is power! Power! Wondering working power, in the Blood, of the Lamb. There is power! Power! Wondering working power, in the precious Blood of the Lamb.

2012 December 6 - Morning Manna

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. (James 1:17).

Today's Morsel: Well it's that time of year that everyone starts wondering what gift to buy. Many may even going into a state of depression trying to determine if they will get the right gift and if the gift they purchase will be what makes others happy. When the Magi showed up to visit Jesus, they brought gold, frankincense, and myrrh. And even these were not perfect gifts. James tells us that every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. So every good gift and every perfect gift is from God. We can't buy them in a store or with money. As Peter told Simon, "But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money"(Acts 8:20). Good gifts and perfect gifts that are from God are freely given. There is no amount of money that can buy them. Peter told the people on the day of Pentecost, "Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call" (Acts 2:38-39). If you want to give someone a gift that will never tarnish and never wear out, give them Jesus and they'll be thanking you for years to come.
Sing: If the ship of your life, is tossing on the sea of strife; You need someone. If you feel so all alone, and your house is not a home; You need someone. If it seems life isn't fair, and there's no one left to share; all those lonely days and nights, and things just won't turn out right; then you need someone to care, someone to just be there; You need someone.

Chorus: I give you Jesus, He's the peace that passes all understanding; I give you Jesus, He's the perfect love that casteth out all fear; I give you Jesus, He's the water that you drink and never thirst again; I give you Jesus, my friend, I give you Jesus,

If the pressures all around, keep your spirits to the ground; You need someone. If your body is in pain, and your health you can't regain; you need someone. If it seems that you have tried, with all the strength you have inside; and it seems that you have failed, remember on the cross He nailed; all the bitterness and grief, to give you peace and sweet relief; for He is that someone that you need.

Chorus: So I give you Jesus, He's the peace that passes all understanding; I give you Jesus, He's the perfect love that casteth out all fear; I give you Jesus, He's the water that you drink and never thirst again; I give you Jesus, my friend, I give you Jesus, He's everything, everything you'll ever need, Oh I give you Jesus, my friend, I give you Jesus.

2012 December 5 - Morning Manna

Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus. And beholding the man which was healed standing with them, they could say nothing against it. But when they had commanded them to go aside out of the council, they conferred among themselves, Saying, What shall we do to these men? for that indeed a notable miracle hath been done by them is manifest to all them that dwell in Jerusalem; and we cannot deny it. But that it spread no further among the people, let us straitly threaten them, that they speak henceforth to no man in this name. And they called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus. But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye. For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard. So when they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding nothing how they might punish them, because of the people: for all men glorified God for that which was done. (Acts 4:13-21)
Today's Morsel: A few years ago there was a report of people dying because of "Asian flu", "Bird flu", and meningitis. And so the rush to prevent the spreading of these diseases went into operation. They didn't want it to be transmitted from one person to another either by direct contact with the person or by indirect contact, e.g. contact with his or her clothes.
The initial infilling of the Holy Ghost began to spread like wild fire on the Day of Pentecost, causing people to be infected. Three thousand were infected on the first day. The more the religious people tried to stop it, the faster it spread. It was like a wild fire. This initial outpouring could not be stopped. It leaped from house to house, village to village, city to city, church to church, street to street, and along the road way. Handkerchiefs, aprons, pieces of clothing spread this disease to others. The religious looked for clues and ways to stop it, but they couldn't stop it. They caught Peter and John and they began to question them. But after they questioned them and heard their answers, they realized that the source of the contamination was none other than the Lord Jesus Christ. What they thought they had crucified became an epidemic (an outbreak, a plague). Little did they know that Calvary released Fire! They had tried to kill it by burying it. But someone opened the door to the tomb. Even today, some are trying to stop people from being contaminated with this power and outbreak, but it's not going to happen. Because The Lord said, "And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit. And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come. And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call" (Joel 2:28-32). Are you contagious? If not, you haven't met Jesus.
Sing: Jesus got a hold of my life and He won't let me go. Jesus got into my heart He got into my soul. I used to be O so sad, but now I'm happy, free and glad, cause Jesus got a hold of my life and He won't let me go.
