2011 May 24 - Morning Manna

But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead. Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
(Philippians 3:7-14)

Today's Morsel Many people go to the doctor and take medicine because they don't like to suffer with pain.  The thought of bearing pain is just a little bit too much for some.  One T-shirt I read said, "Pain is just weakness leaving the body"  Pain is a sign that something isn't right, but God already knows that.  Paul said, "It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him: If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us: If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself" (2 Timothy 2:11-13). Notice, if we suffer, we shall rein with Him.  The writer of Hebrews said,  "Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate." (Hebrews 13:12).  If He suffered for us, we should be willing to suffer for Him.  Are you a part of Christ's suffering?  Like Paul, I want to know the fellowship of His suffering.  Why did He do it for me? Why was He so willing to pay the price for my sins?  Therefore, I conclude that I can't allow a little pain and suffering to stop me from reaching the goal and doing what He has asked of me.  So I'll just endure a little suffering and  pain because when I am weak, then am I strong!

Sing: I've got a made up mind!  I've got a final destination! Going to keep pressing on, to my final destination; going burn all the bridges behind me, break all the ties that bind me, going to keep on pressing on, till I reach my home sweet home, that New Jerusalem!
