2011 May 31 - Morning Manna

"If thou hast run with the footmen, and they have wearied thee, then how canst thou contend with horses? and if in the land of peace, wherein thou trustedst, they wearied thee, then how wilt thou do in the swelling of Jordan?"(Jeremiah 12:5).

Today's Morsel:  Commentator Matthew Henry says, "If thou hast run with the footmen - If the smallest evils to which thou art exposed cause thee to make so many bitter complaints, how wilt thou feel when, in the course of day to day life, thou shalt be exposed to much greater, from enemies much more powerful?"  And then he says, "Horsemen are evils much more terrible.  If thou have sunk under small difficulties, what wilt thou do when great ones come?"

What do you do when things weary you?  Do you turn into complaining or do you still trust and reply upon God?  Complaining doesn't get us anywhere.  All complaining does is weigh you down more.  Jesus said that we would speak with new tongues.  Yes, I know that that means being filled with the Holy Ghost, but the Holy Ghost causes us to choose our wording and speech more carefully.  Jesus said that He gave us power ( Luke 19:10) and that we would receive power after the Holy Ghost came  upon us (Acts 1:8).  Therefore, having this power within us, we should be able to handle any type of evil or terror that comes our way, and we should be more ready to edify than to tear down.  Because greater is He that is within you than he that is in the world (1 John 4:4).

Sing:  I can run through a troop and leap over a wall, Hallelujah! Hallelujah!  I  can run through a troop and leap over a wall, Hallelujah! Hallelujah!  Well He's the Rock of my salvation, in Him there is no condemnation,  I can run through a troop and leap over a wall, Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
