2010 September 30 - Morning Manna

For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God. (Romans 14:11-12)

Today's Morsel: You know, one of the really nice things about our world is that it's full of people who have all kinds of good intentions. Many of them desire to do what's right, fair, and just, but intending or wanting to do something and actually doing it aren't the same. The difference is action. And the thing that ensures that action happens is accountability. Do you remember when you were in your early teens? We could hardly wait to become adults because we thought it would mean that we could do whatever we wanted to do. Well, we became adults and we found out that it meant something much different than what we thought. We learned that we were responsible for ourselves. We became accountable for our actions and we still are and always will be. Now we realize that we must answer to external authorities. The government, the boss on our job, teachers, military leaders, and others. We've learned that in the real world, others can mandate that we follow rules and laws. But they cannot force us to be people of character. Ultimately, it is up to each of us to decide how we will live our lives. We must hold ourselves to a higher standard. The apostle Paul admonishes us, "For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God." Everything that we do in this life, we will someday be accountable before God. What will He say about your character?

Sing: For He is Lord, Yes, He is Lord. He has risen from the dead and He is Lord. Every knee shall bow, and every tongue confess, that Jesus Christ, is Lord!

2010 September 29 - Morning Manna

Then fearing lest we should have fallen upon rocks, they cast four anchors out of the stern, and wished for the day. And as the shipmen were about to flee out of the ship, when they had let down the boat into the sea, under colour as though they would have cast anchors out of the foreship, Paul said to the centurion and to the soldiers, Except these abide in the ship, ye cannot be saved (Acts 27:29-31).

Today's Morsel: There seems to be many people leaving the church these days. Many seem to have allowed their situations and circumstances to pull them from the church. Many have lost their hope of what the church can offer and do for them. Many don't seem to realize that outside of the church they cannot be saved. The apostle Paul told the centurion and the soldiers,"Eexcept these abide in the ship, you cannot be saved." You can't be saved outside of the church. Paul said, "And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ" (Ephesians 4:11-15). The church is your safe haven. There are going to be storms, but if you get out of the church, you can't be saved. Jesus pilots this ship. He is the Captain of the sea and He knows how to navigate us through the storm. If you will notice, when Peter got out of the ship to go to Jesus on the water, it was when he took his eyes off Jesus that he began to sink; and he cried out to Jesus to save him (Matthew 14:22-32). Jesus took him by the hand and put him back into the ship. This lets you know that you can't be saved without Jesus (Acts 4:12) and you can't be saved and make it to the other side unless you stay in the ship. Let me encourage you, just because the waters of affliction are taking place in your life, don't get out of the ship. The church has been constructed by Jesus to ensure your safety. So stay put. Once the storm passes by, you will see that Jesus always has your best interest at heart.

Sing: In the dark of the midnight have I oft hid my face, while the storm howls above me, and there's no hiding place. 'Mid the crash of the thunder, precious Lord, hear my cry, keep me safe till the storm passes by. (Chorus)

2. Many times Satan whispered, "There is no need to try, for there's no end of sorrow, there's no hope by and by." But I know Thou art with me, and tomorrow I'll rise, where the storms never darken the skies. (Chorus)

3. When the long night has ended and the storms come no more, let me stand in Thy presence on the bright peaceful shore; In that land where the tempest, never comes, Lord, may I dwell with Thee when the storm passes by. (Chorus)

Chorus : Till the storm passes over, till the thunder sounds no more, till the clouds roll forever from the sky; hold me fast, let me stand in the hollow of Thy hand, keep me safe till the storm passes by.

2010 September 28 - Morning Manna

If any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be Anathema Maranatha. (1 Corinthians 16:22).

Today's Morsel: How much do you love Jesus? The Apostle Paul said that if any man love not the Lord, let him be Anathema Maranatha. The word Anathema means excommunicated (thing or person): - accursed; Maranatha means our Lord has come; that is, an exclamation of the approaching divine judgment. So the Apostle Paul said that if any man love not the Lord, don't let him take part in the things of God. He said that there is a divine judgment coming and if any man doesn't love the Lord, he is gonna have to face it. Just where does Jesus rank in your priorities in your life? Just where does He fit in your love life? Is He number one or is there something else vying for that number one spot? John said that we should "Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him" (1 John 2:15). He also informs us, "And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. We love him, because he first loved us. If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also"(1 John 4:16-21. Just how much do you love Jesus? Is He the most important thing to you? Does He come before your job, your career, your family? If you keep Jesus as the number one love of your life, I guarantee that everything else in your life will fall into its rightful place.

Sing: I love Him! I love Him! Because He first loved me. He purchased my salvation, on Calvary!

2010 September 27 - Morning Manna

Let all your things be done with charity. I beseech you, brethren, (ye know the house of Stephanas, that it is the firstfruits of Achaia, and that they have addicted themselves to the ministry of the saints,) (1 Corinthians 16:14-15).

Today's Morsel: I have noticed that many people are medically dependant on so many drugs these days. Many of these drugs are addicting and cause many people to become dependant on them. Many people are in rehab centers trying to deliver themselves from the addiction of cocaine, crack, or other barbituates. Many people steal, kill, and destroy to get the money to support their addiction. Some people have become addicted to this world. No matter how hard they try, they just can't seem to get away from it and shake it. They are hooked on it and every day they have to have a fix of it. Satan has them hooked and he keeps developing more things to addict them. People are addicted to gambling, credit card use, gadgets, spending, stealing, eating, sports, television, pornography, the list goes on and on. But as saints and born again believers, we must become as the household of Stephanas and addict ourselves to the ministry of the saints. We must get high on the Lord and dependant on Him and the work that He has called us to. We must become addicted to prayer, reading the Word, witnessing, attending church, and giving of our time, talents, and treasure to the work of the Lord. The early church was addicted from the time they were filled with the Holy Ghost. We don't need to be addicted to this world, as it will kill us both naturally and spiritually. But we need to be addicted to the things of God. Every day you need another dose of the Holy Ghost! I say that it's time that we get hooked on Jesus the same as the early church did.

Sing: Baptize me Jesus, with the Holy Ghost. I shall have power, Your Word says so. Satan is bus,y trying to turn me around. But I’m determined, to stand my ground. But I can’t do it; I can’t do it; Till you baptize me with the Holy Ghost.

2010 September 25 - Morning Manna

I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all (Ephesians 4:1-6).

Today's Morsel: Are you aware that if you are not in unity,it cannot happen? If you will notice in the word "Unity" there is the letter "U" at the beginning and "I" in the center. That means that for anything to have unity, it takes "U" and "I" to make it happen. So if you take "U" and "I" out of the equation, we'll never have "UNITY". When you get married, you are united in holy matrimony. You come together in unity. One. But it takes "U" and "I" to keep it together. If "U" or "I" do not do their part, then unity is broken and divorce happens. The church is to be a united body of believers working together in unity. But again, if "U" and "I" do not do our part to keep it together, we will have disunity, the church will suffer, and we will divorce ourselves from each other and render the work of the Lord non-effective. The Apostle Paul said that we should endeavor to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. He lists the things in the church that must be united. He said that there is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. He says that it's all one. Therefore, to keep it one, we have to have "U" and "I" to ensure that the church remains as God intended it to be from the beginning. Be not deceived, God hates discord.

Sing: You're my brother, you're my sister, so take me by the hand, together we will work, until He comes. There's no foe that can defeat us, when we're walking side by side, as long as there is love, we can stand!

2010 September 24 - Morning Manna

And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him, And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented. And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him. The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed. For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it. When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel. And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven. But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour (Matthew 8:5-13).

Today's Morsel: Do you have the faith and trust in Jesus that when you ask Him for something and He tells you to go your way, that you believe what you asked of Him will happen; or do you find yourself pouting because it isn't happening in the time and way that you wanted it to take place? The writer of Hebrews tells us, "But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him"(Hebrews 11:6). In other words, if you go to God and ask Him for anything, you have to believe it and go about your business, trusting Him to work on your behalf. Paul said, " For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for? But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it. Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God" (Romans 8:24-27). The Centurion said to Jesus, "Just speak the word and my servant shall be healed." He was a man of faith. He believed that whatever Jesus said, it was going to happen. Can you extend your faith to that range? That no matter what you ask Jesus to do, if it's according to His will, when He speaks, it will happen? We must remember that faith without works is dead. Always remember that Jesus said, "All things are possible to him that can believe."

Sing: Faith can move mountains. Mountains of fear and of doubt. Faith can move mountains, so why don't you try your faith out!

2010 September 23 - Morning Manna

In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple. Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly. And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory (Isaiah 6:1-3).

Today's Morsel: In a Peanuts comic strip, Lucy says to Charlie Brown, "Life is like a ship deck chair. Some people place it so they can see where they have been. Others place it so they can see where they are going, and others places it so they can see where they are now." Charlie Brown, is fuss and carrying on with his chair and says, "I can't even get mine unfolded."

We all need to get our vision of God unfolded and see what God is trying to do with our lives. Just where has God brought you from? Where are you at now? And where is He taking you? Scripture says, "When they were by the house of Micah, they knew the voice of the young man the Levite: and they turned in thither, and said unto him, Who brought thee hither? and what makest thou in this place? and what hast thou here?"(Judges 18:3). Just what is God trying to accomplish in you that you aren't seeing? When Isaiah got a vision of God, he noticed that the whole earth was full of God's glory. He saw the glory of God. He saw God in His beauty and splendor. Isaiah realized that there was no room for anything else. When we get our vision of God unfolded, we are going to see that we, too, do not have room for anything else in our lives. Let me encourage you today, put Jesus in His rightful place as the head of your life, so that your life will not become cluttered with the things of this world.

Sing: Open the eyes of my heart, Lord. Open the eyes of my heart. I want to see You. I want to see You.
Open the eyes of my heart, Lord. Open the eyes of my heart. I want to see You. I want to see You.

Chorus: To see You high and lifted up, Shining in the light of Your glory, pour out Your power and love, as we sing holy, holy, holy.

2010 September 22 - Morning Manna

And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away. And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone. But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary. And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea. And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear. But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid. And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt? And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased. Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God (Matthew 14:22-33).

Today's Morsel: Most of us have heard this story of Peter walking on the water. I will give Peter credit for many things. I believe that Jesus chose Peter to be the spokesmen and leader of the New Testament church because he wasn't afraid to try things, even though his life was in danger. Peter is in the storm the same as the other disciples, but when he heard the voice of Jesus saying, "Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid," Peter answered Him and said, "Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water." And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.

Notice, Peter said, "If" it be you. He wasn't sure if it was Jesus or not. And so he said, "If" it be you. Peter wanted confirmation before he stepped out of the ship. We all need to make sure that the calling and the voice that we hear is of the Lord before we step out. Peter knew Jesus' voice, because he had spent much time with Him. So when Jesus told him to come, he knew that it was the Lord and that he would be alright because he knew that Jesus would not allow him to sink. Friend, if Jesus tells you to be of good cheer in the storm of your life, be of good cheer, everything is going to be alright. If the doctor has told you that you have cancer, be of good cheer. If you have lost a loved one, be of good cheer. Because if Jesus is with you, you have nothing to fear. Let me encourage you today, before you step out of the ship, make sure you have spent so much time with Jesus so that you are sure of His voice when He speaks to you.

Sing: When He calls me, I will answer. When He calls me, I will hear. When He calls me, I will answer, I'll be somewhere listening for my name.

Chorus: I'll be somewhere listening, I'll be somewhere listening, I'll be somewhere listening for my name. I'll be somewhere listening, I'll be somewhere listening, I'll be somewhere listening for my name.

2010 September 21 - Morning Manna

But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe. But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise (Galatians 3:22-29).

Today's Morsel: Well, school has begun again. The students are back at school working, learning, and obtaining knowledge to help them throughout their lives. I have noticed that most people will go to school Monday through Saturday, but come Sunday, they will not go to Sunday School. Sunday school is a time for teaching and getting you rooted and grounded in the Word of God, and that is how you obtain success. As the Lord told Joshua, "This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success" (Joshua 1:8). Many people will skip Sunday School, and show up for the preaching or evangelistic part of the service. Paul said that the foolishness of preaching is designed to save them that believe (1 Corinthians 1:21). Teaching, on the other hand, is designed to ground you in the Truth (Matthew 28:19). If all you do is hear preaching, pretty soon you aren't going to know what you believe. If you don't receive the teaching of God's Word, and get an understanding, you are going to become a dropout and you are not going to graduate with the class into the Kingdom of God. Paul said that the law was our school master to bring us to Christ. In other words, it was our teacher. The Law of the Lord is perfect, the Psalmist said, it coverts the soul (Psalms 19:7). Paul also told Titus, "For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world" (Titus 2:11-12). Not only does the law teach us, but the grace of God also teaches us. Teaching is important for the soul. So make sure you are in all teaching sessions and open and study the books, the 66 books of the Bible, as it is this Book that brings about our success.

Sing: Show me Your ways, that I may walk with You. Show me Your ways, I put my hope in You.

Chorus: The cry of my heart is to love You more, to live with the touch of Your hand. Stronger each day, show me Your ways.

2010 September 20 - Morning Manna

And the rest, some on boards, and some on broken pieces of the ship. And so it came to pass, that they escaped all safe to land (Acts 27:44).

Today's Morsel: It's amazing the things that can be used for life preservers. After the Apostle Paul and the men who were sailing with him to Rome to appear before Caesar encountered a major storm, Luke records that all hope for their lives was lost when neither day and night appeared. Fourteen days in a major storm can bring fear in the heart of any man, especially when at sea. But after Paul told them that unless they all stay in the ship, they could not be saved, even after they remained in the ship, the ship still ran aground and was broken into pieces. But when the command was given to all of them to make it to land safely, because their lives were in danger, some made it on boards and some on broken pieces of the ship. They all made it to land safely. What is my point? It is that even if the storm comes into your life and rips your ship apart, get a hold of a board or any piece of the ship and use it as a life preserver and make it safely to land. The scriptures (Word of God) are the piece of ship, and you need them to make it safely to land. The Word of God will keep you afloat and sustain you in any storm. Isaiah said, "But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine. When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee. For I am the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour" (Isaiah 43:1-3). If you are going to make it to the other side, you have to cling to the Word.

Sing: It's the old ship of Zion, it's the hope for the lost and dying. It's a soul saving station, it's the tower of salvation.

I'm talking about the church in the book of Revelation, it's built on a Rock, it's got a firm foundation; it's been through the flood, it's been through the fire, but one of these day, the church is gonna move up a little higher! Well it's the church, triumph, O' Lord, and it's built by the hand of the Lord.

2010 September 18 - Morning Manna

My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you, I desire to be present with you now, and to change my voice; for I stand in doubt of you. (Galatians 4:19-20)

Today's Morsel: The Greek word for the word formed is "morphoō" mor-fo'-o, which means "to fashion." Paul was in much prayer for this church. He was praying that they would come to grips with Christ and that their lives would be fashioned like Him. When Jesus said for us to be perfect even as His father was perfect, He was saying, fashion yourself in the same way. In other words, become complete and content in Him that you would have need for nothing of this world and your life would represent who's you are. When we first begin our Christian walk, it is sometimes a struggle. Like a butterfly in the cocoon, the new is trying to work its way to the outside. The same is with our lives. Once the Holy Ghost comes inside of you, it will begin to do a work on the inside. But not long after, it will begin to work its way to the outside to reveal your beauty. And many times, this is where the struggle begins. The flesh will have to take a backseat to the Spirit, and the flesh doesn't like to relinquish its place. But it's the process that God has chosen to make you beautiful in His time. Paul knew the potential of the Christians at Galatia to whom he wrote. Although he had taught them how to live their lives, the Word was still inside of their heads and had not become evident in their behavior and lifestyle. They were still in the formation stage, and Paul had been living in painful anticipation until that which was known in them would soon become seen. Are you fighting against the Spirit that wants to lead your life? Well, don't fight, but allow God to make something beautiful out of you.

Sing: Here I am, Lord, here I am. I give all myself to you, here I am. Here I am, Lord, here I am, let your spirit move through me, here I am!

2010 September 17 - Morning Manna

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. (Luke 4:18-19)

Today's Morsel: Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall, Humpty Dumpty had a great fall. All the king's horses and all the king's men couldn't put Humpty together again.

Does this nursery rhyme fits your situation? Do you feel as though you are broken-hearted and that there is no one that can help you? Jesus can heal your broken heart. That's what He came to do. Ask Him, as no one else can heal hearts like He can. You see it was for all the broken hearts, broken lives, and broken people that He died on Calvary for. You may think there are certain things you will never be able to forget. Or maybe you know things that seem beyond forgiveness. If this is how you feel today, then let me introduce you to the One who can cure all, Jesus. Only Jesus can heal all things. He paid the price for us. So don't let your heart be troubled and remain broken. Jesus is still in the miracle working business and He can put your life back together again. As He said, "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord."

Humpty Dumpty could have been put back together again if they had called upon the king instead of the king's horses and men. He said," And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me" (Psalms 50:15).

Sing: Something beautiful, something good. All my confusion, Jesus understood. All I had to offer Him was brokenness and strife, but He made something, beautiful out of my life!

2010 September 16 - Morning Manna

He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls (Proverbs 25:28).

Today's Morsel: Have you ever been inside of a control room? What did you think when you saw all those buttons flashing or levels? But what do you think would happen if the power source to the control room was cutoff or broken? It would render itself useless. But as long as the control room is in full operation, it can do many things. Like close gates; Open doors; Lift bridges; Turn on and off lights; Open and close values - and all with a push of a button. Your spirit is like a control room. When it is operating correctly, it can serve many wonderful purposes for your life. But if it becomes broken or the power turned off, it renders itself useless and not able to do what it was intended to do. Let me encourage you today, maintain control of your spirit and make sure that you do proper maintenance to ensure it doesn't become inoperable. Remember, "He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.

Sing: It's down in my heart and it's keeping me alive; Keeping me alive! Keeping me alive! Wel,l it's down in my heart and it's keeping me a live, this Holy Ghost is keeping me alive.

2010 September 15 - Morning Manna

The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness! (Matthew 6:22-23)

Today's Morsel: What does it mean that the eye is the light of the body? I looked up the word "light", in the Greek, and it says that it was a "portable lamp" or other "illuminator." A lamp is a device that generates light for the purpose of illumination. A second definition of lamp is something that illuminates the mind or soul. We receive much of our information about the world through our eyes. How much we view the world effects our thoughts, and our thoughts effect our souls. Jesus tells us we must keep our eyes clear in order to enjoy a life filled with light. The psalmist said, "I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me" (Psalms 101:3). Isn't it time that you trim your lamp and ensure nothing unclean is being placed before your eyes? We need to allow God, through His Word, to reveal to us anything that is unclean and unwholesome for us. As Paul said, "Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in anything ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you" (Philippians 3:15). Keep the light burning within you!

Sing: Open the eyes of my heart, Lord. Open the eyes of my heart. I want to see You, I want to see You. Open the eyes of my heart, Lord. Open the eyes of my heart. I want to see You. I want to see You.

Chorus: To see You high and lifted up, shining in the light of Your glory. Pour out Your power and love, as we sing holy, holy, holy. To see You high and lifted up, shining in the light of Your glory. Pour out Your power and love, as we sing holy, holy, holy. Holy, holy, holy. Holy, holy, holy. I want to see you!

2010 September 14 - Morning Manna

For at the window of my house I looked through my casement, And beheld among the simple ones, I discerned among the youths, a young man void of understanding (Proverbs 7:6-7).

Today's Morsel: The other day my wife said to me, " We need to set aside a time to clean the windows." My wife hates dirty windows. And I strongly agree with her. I want to be able to see out and allow the sunlight to come in. What do you see when you look through your window of belief? Hanging in front of everyone of us is an invisible window through which we see the world around us. As we go through life, we view events, circumstances, and people through our window of belief. As time goes on, different things are etched on our window. And whatever is written will color or discolor what we see through it. Sometimes it may be something that is wonderful, like the promises of God, or it can be something demeaning, like insults. What we see can resemble a beautiful mural or ugly graffiti, depending on what you choose to allow on your window. Maybe someone has drummed into you that you are irresponsible and slow, and from that time forward, you've seen everything in light of that statement. Maybe someone told you you woul never amount to anything; then later in life when you made a mistake, you saw yourself as they had said you were. You can't always prevent people from spraying graffiti on your window, but you can decide whether or not to let it remain there. You are the one responsible for what is written on that window, inside and out, so make sure you don't write things that are demeaning and that do not represent God and yourself. The best way to keep your window clean is with the Word of God. If something doesn't build you up and edify you, then wooosh!, off it goes. Discipline yourself to read the word of God daily, as it is through the Word of God that we clean our way (Psalms 119.9;John 15:3). God's Word will keep your belief window clean and your thoughts healthy. Remember, healthy thoughts build healthy attitudes! And healthy attitudes make us see things more clearly.

Sing: The windows of heaven are open, God's power is falling tonight. There's joy, joy, joy in my heart , since Jesus made everything right. I gave Him my old tattered garment, He gave me a robe of pure white, I'm feasting on manna from heaven, and that's why I'm happy tonight.

2010 September 13 - Morning Manna

And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day. And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob's thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him. And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me. And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob. And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed. And Jacob asked him, and said, Tell me, I pray thee, thy name. And he said, Wherefore is it that thou dost ask after my name? And he blessed him there. And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved (Genesis 32:24-30).

Today's Morsel: How strong is your grip on God? Paul said that we should stand fast in the liberty where in Christ has made us free and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. Jacob needed an answer from God of His promise to him. And so he was left alone with a man until the breaking of the day. What we find is that Jacob had a hold on the man while the man was trying to get loose from him. Jacob knew that this man had the answer he needed, and so he wasn't about to let him go until he was blessed. Do you need a blessing today? Well, how strong is your hold on God? Will you let Him go when it hurts you? Will you let Him go when the situation gets worse than when it was before you took hold of Him? Jacob not only had fear, but now his hip is jerked out of its socket. Jacob is in much pain, but he holds on until the breaking of the day. As the psalmist said, "Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning" (Psalms 30:5). When the man changes Jacob's name from Jacob to Israel, he tells him, "For as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed." In other words, the same way as a prince has power as the son of a king, Jacob now had the same power with God because he did not let go when it hurt him most. Jesus is the King of kings and Lord of lords, and we are His sons. Princes. Therefore, as long as we hold on and don't let go, we will maintain power with Him and with man, and we will always prevail in any situations and circumstances that we may encounter.

Sing: Hold to God's unchanging hand. Hold to God's unchanging hand. Build your hope on things eternal, hold to God's unchanging hand.

2010 September 11 - Morning Manna

And Jacob went on his way, and the angels of God met him. And when Jacob saw them, he said, This is God's host: and he called the name of that place Mahanaim (Genesis 32:1-2).

Today's Morsel: Reading and focusing on Jacob's return trip home from living with his uncle Laban, we see and sense the fear that is still in Jacob's heart for his brother Esau. The last thing that Jacob remembered when he departed home was that his brother Esau had stated that he would kill him for stealing his birthright. And now God is having Jacob return to his home, but Jacob is fearful. God even sends him a host of angels for his protection. And even though he recognizes whose they are, he is still fearful. Are you like Jacob? How many signs does God have to provide you to allow you to know that He is with you? What tangible signs are you waiting for before you realize that God will never leave you nor forsake you? Paul said that God hath not give us the spirit of fear (2 Timothy 1:7). Fear can grip you and prevent you from accomplishing the things that God desires to do in you, with you, and through you. God has a purpose for your life the same as He did Jacob, but you have to believe Him when He tells you where to go. One of the things about fear is that it will try to prevent you from achieving your dreams and goals, and it will, if you let it. John tells us that fear torments. In other words, fear will make you stressful, suffer with pain, and lose your hope. The reason Jacob was not encouraged about the heavenly host, was he allowed fear to overpower him. If you let fear control you long enough, you too will not be able to see that God is with you. Let me encourage you, crush fear from your life as soon as it happens.

Sing: I can hear my Savior calling. I can hear my Savior calling. I can hear my Savior calling. "Take thy cross and follow, follow, Me."

Chorus: Where he leads me I will follow, where He leads me I will follow. Where He leads me I will follow, I'll go with Him, with Him, all the way.

2010 September 10 - Morning Manna

Remember the word unto thy servant, upon which thou hast caused me to hope. This is my comfort in my affliction: for thy word hath quickened me (Psalms 119:49-50).

Today's Morsel: Just how much stock do you put in the Word of God? I don't know about you, but I am encouraged every time I read the Word of God. The psalmist said that the word is his comfort in his time of suffering, trials, and afflictions. God knows the things that we have need of, and so His Word is given to encourage us during our time of need. Brokenhearts are mended, troubles vanish, and our spirits are given life by the Word of God. However, you can't just only read the Word, you have to apply the Word of God to your life and situation if you are going to obtain results from it (James 1:22). The Word brings life to a thirsty and dying soul. It shows which road to take when you are at the crossroads in your life. It enlightens the path when the way is dark and dreary. The psalmist said that the word quickened me and therefore causes me to hope. The Word revived him and allowed him to see what was before him. It caused him to be able to see that everything was going to be alright. Remember what Jesus said, I won't leave you comfortless, I will come to you. Because Jesus is the Wword made flesh (John 1:1&14), it is He that revives us and gives us hope in the time of our afflictions. "Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all" (Psalms 34:19).

Sing: Revive us again; fill each heart with Thy love; may each soul be rekindled with fire from above.

Chorus: Hallelujah! Thine to glory! Hallelujah! Amen! Hallelujah! Thine the glory! Revive us again.

2010 September 9 - Morning Manna

I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth. (3 John 1:4)

Today's Morsel: We recently made a trip to Uganda a few weeks ago where we went to help our missionaries there with training of new ministers and saints. I was filled with much joy when I saw so many of the men and woman who have continued in the Truth since I was there teaching in early 2009. They seem to have grasped the Truth and are continuing to go forth in that Truth. When I listened to their victory reports of what the Lord had done, I felt as John did when he said, "I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth." If you have taught people Truth, and they continue in Truth, their results will be truth. But if you teach them err and they continue in err, Jesus said that they become two-fold the child of hell. Jesus said, "If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" (John 8:31-32). The Word is Truth (John 17:17) and Jesus is the Truth (John 14:6), and the Word made flesh (John 1:14). If you teach people who Jesus was and is, they will know the Truth and able to make themselves free from the grip and snares of Satan who has taken them captive at his will. Just what are you teaching your children? As Moses admonishes us, "Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes. And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates" (Deuteronomy 6:4-9). Solomon said that we should, "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it" (Proverbs 22:6). And the Apostle Paul said that fathers should not provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord" (Ephesians 6:4). Do you promise to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth? If you will, then Jesus will be with you.

Sing: I have found the way. I have found the way. O' Glory hallelujah, I have found the way.

2010 September 8 - Morning Manna

Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him? My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth (1 John 3:16-18).

Today's Morsel: If you love me show me that you care, the wife said to her husband. The husband looked in surprise at her comment and said, "I told you on the day we were married, now don't you ever forget it again."
Do we really love one another the way that Jesus told us to? Do your actions reflect His love in you. Jesus said, "By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another" (John 13:35). Love causes us to put others before ourselves. Love is caring for someone else's needs before our own. It's seeing the need of others and helping out. Love doesn't hold grudges, but offers forgiveness even if it isn't at fault. Love doesn't keep score as to who won and who lost. Love goes out of its way to ensure that someone else feels better, is satisfied, and is happy. People who say that they love God should always give of their time, talents, and treasures to the work of the Lord. John said that Jesus laid down His life for us, and we should lay down our lives for the brethren. Let's be selfless servants and show forth His love to others.

Sing: I want to live the way He wants me to live. I want to give, until there's just no more to give. I want to love, love till there's just no more love, I could never, never out love the Lord.

2010 September 7 - Morning Manna

Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things. Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he (John 4:21-26).

Today's Morsel: How do you feel when someone shows up at your door that you were not expecting and surprises you? The woman at the well was expecting Jesus to come, but she wasn't expecting Him to come when He came. She was taken totally by surprise. Jesus said, "And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all" (Luke 17:26-27). They were taken by surprise. Jesus and His disciples laid the foundation for us to not be taken by surprise. The Word of God is filled with warnings to prepare us for His soon return. The signs are all pointing toward His soon return. Wars and rumors of wars; Earthquakes in divers places; Men's hearts failing them from looking at the things that are happening upon the earth. As the Apostle Paul told Timothy, "This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth" (2 Timothy 3:1-7). They told us that as a thief comes in the night to watch, as Jesus would return in the same way. Therefore, we must be prepared as no man knows when Jesus will return for us. We are not going to live forever. From the first day that we entered into this world, we were headed towards death. Now is not the time to be consumed with this world, but as Peter told the people on the day of Pentecost, you must save yourselves from this untoward generation. While you have an opportunity, let me encourage you, ensure that your life is in line with the Word of God so that you are not taken by surprise. Our salvation is nearer then when we first believed!

Sing: All of heaven’s getting ready, for the last and final call. Heaven’s choir is all assembled, an invitation to one and all. We’re waiting with anticipation, it can happen any day, all in the blink of an eye from the eastern sky we’re gonna hear our Savior say.

Chorus: Get up (get up), get ready, We’re getting ready to go. Get a move on time cause in a little while, We’ll be going home. I made up my mind, I’m not wasting time, the trumpet’s about to blow, so get up, get ready, we’re getting ready to go.

2010 September 6 - Morning Manna

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. (Matthew 11:28-30) .

For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people. To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear. (Isaiah 28:11-12).

Today's Morsel: Today is a time that Americans celebrate Labor Day. It is a holiday given for them to rest from their labor. Many will celebrate with picnics and family get togethers. Even Jesus told His Disciple to come apart and rest a while from their labor. I believe that we all need to take some time from our labor and refresh ourselves so that we are more effective for the kingdom. Jesus calls for us to come to Him during our labor so that He can give us rest. Why not heed Jesus' advice today and enjoy some time with Him and allow Him to refresh you with His Spirit.

Sing: As the deer panteth for the water, so my soul, longeth after Thee. You alone are my heart's desires, and I long to worship you.

2010 September 4 - Morning Manna

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light (Matthew 11:28-30).

Today's Morsel: How much rest do you get per day? Do you get the eight hours that Jesus has ordained for you to have? I often hear people saying, "I'm so tired;" or "I have trouble sleeping;" or "I wish I could rest." Why have so many gotten themselves into such a hustle and bustle that they can't rest? Have you allowed this world to cause you to get yourself into a knot that now you can't rest? Have you allowed the work of the Lord to consume you to a point that you can't rest? The work of the Lord is very important, but even Jesus told His disciples to come apart into a desert place and rest awhile. In other words, in the desert there is nothing for you to do and you can get the rest you need. He told them to get away from it all and rest awhile. Jesus said that if you come to Him, He will give you rest. You see, to come to Jesus isn't talking about coming to Him in prayer or seeking Him for more directions. What Jesus is saying is that if you come to Him and just sit and listen for a while, you'll get rest. Your mind can become full with all the things you have to do if you keep adding and adding to yourself. He told Martha, "Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her"(Luke 10:41-42). If you have too many things you are trying to accomplish at once, your mind is going to become tired, and you are going to become weary, and you are not going to be able to get rest, because you will always be thinking of the things you have to do. You should prioritize your tasks and work on them one at a time or get someone else to help you. You shouldn't overload those who are helping you with what you want done, as they too will become tired and restless. Short tempers, poor attitudes, and stress are all signs of needing rest. The psalmist said, "It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep" (Psalms 127:2). The Lord said that the Holy Ghost is the rest for the weary soul, and that it is the refreshing (Isaiah 28:11-12).

Sing: 1. I come to the garden alone, while the dew is still on the roses, And the voice I hear falling on my ear, The Son of God discloses. (Chorus)

2. He speaks and the sound of His voice, is so sweet the birds hush their singing, and the melody that He gave to me, within my heart is ringing. (Chorus)

Chorus: And He walks with me, and He talks with me, and He tells me I am His own, and the joy we share as we tarry there, none other, has ever, known!

2010 September 3 - Morning Manna

I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour  (1 Timothy 2:1-3).

Today's Morsel: What is your number one prayer need? Do you have lost loved ones? Do you want to see yours or others' situations changed? Then you must pray. Prayer can change things when man cannot. There is one thing that you must add to your prayers and that is patience. When you ask God to do something for you in prayer, you have to have patience to wait upon Him. If you want His will to be done, then you must learn to wait and be content. Just because the answer to your prayer is delayed in coming, you shouldn't stop praying. Prayer is all about faith and trust. You believe that God will answer, and you trust Him to have His and your best interest at heart. The Apostle Paul told Timothy, "That first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour." This being the case, when we begin our prayers, we should come humbly and sincerely before God, as only He has the power to grant our request. James said if we humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, He shall lift us up (James 4:10). When we are finished with our prayer times, we should feel good about our time with the Lord. Prayer is a time of petition. It is a time of interceding for those closest to us, those who have pointed us in the right way, our leadership, those who are weak, and even ourselves and our needs. Jesus said that He wished that men would pray and not faint (give up) (Luke 18:1). Friend, if Jesus wants us to pray, He has a reason for it. So the best way to start your day is with prayer.

Sing: Whisper a prayer in the morning. Whisper a prayer at noon. Whisper a prayer in the evening, so keep your heart in tune.

2010 September 2 - Morning Manna

Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven (Matthew 5:14-16).

Today's Morsel: It's amazing how far you can see light in the dark. A few days ago we were flying back from Uganda to America, and our flight was a night flight. When we landed in Ethiopia at 7PM, there weren't many lights, but when the plane departed at 12Pm, the entire city was full of lights and you could see just how big the city of Addis Ababa really was. All because the lights were shining.

Jesus said that we are lights which are sat upon a hill that cannot be hidden. As His children, we should be shining bright everyday in this world, as the world in which we live is a very dark place. Sin seems to be on the rise. Satan's forces seems to be controlling this world. The deceiver of the brethren is on the war path. If there has ever been a time that the Christian's light should be shining, it is now. Our dress and appearance, our attitudes, our discipline, our speech, and our actions should all represent Jesus to a lost and dying world. We must burn brighter than ever before. Paul said that we should give no room to the devil and that sin should not have dominion over us. Jesus said that we should let our light so shine before men, that they may see our good works, and glorify our Father which is in heaven. Do others see Christ in you? Are you burning bright? If no one is talking about you, your light isn't burn to bright and no one is following you.

Sing: This little light on mine, I'm gonna let it shine. This little light on mine, I'm gonna let it shine. This little light on mine, I'm gonna let it shine, let it shine, let it shine, let it shine. Hide it under a bushel, NO! I'm gonna let it shine. Hide it under a bushel, NO! I'm gonna let it shine; Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine.

2010 September 1 - Morning Manna

I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession; That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ: Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords; Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen. (1 Timothy 6:13-16)

Today's Morsel: Are you maintaining a good witness for Jesus? As Christian's, we should present an example of Christ before all people the same as Jesus did when He was on trial before Pilate. Paul said that Jesus presented a good confession. Jesus showed us what every believer should do when we are falsely accused by others. We shouldn't take matters into our own hands, but allow the witness of who we are in Christ Jesus to set the stage for us. If we take matters into our own hand, then we will work from the flesh and not the Spirit, thus destroying our good witness. The Lord said through Isaiah the Prophet, "Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour" (Isaiah 43:10-11). We are His witness that others may see in us that Jesus is God, to the glory of God the Father. Are you being a good example for Him?

Sing: Let's talk about Jesus, the King of Kings is He. The Lord of all Supreme, throughout eternity. The Great I Am the Way; The Truth, the Life, the Door; let's talk about Jesus more and more.
