Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 10 November 2020

Do You Know Him

“Now Peter sat without in the palace: and a damsel came unto him, saying, Thou also wast with Jesus of Galilee. But he denied before them all, saying, I know not what thou sayest. And when he was gone out into the porch, another maid saw him, and said unto them that were there, This fellow was also with Jesus of Nazareth. And again he denied with an oath, I do not know the man. And after a while came unto him they that stood by, and said to Peter, Surely thou also art one of them; for thy speech bewrayeth thee. Then began he to curse and to swear, saying, I know not the man. And immediately the cock crew. And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, which said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. And he went out and wept bitterly.”(Matthew 26:69-75)

Today’s Morsel:  I am often asked by folks if I know certain people.  And many times I tell them that I am acquainted with them, but I really do not know them personally.  When Jesus told Peter that he would deny Him three times before the cock crowed twice, Peter told Jesus that it would not happen.  But when Peter was put to the test, he said that “I know not the man.”  If anyone should have known who Jesus was, it should have been Peter.  But Peter denied him because of fear.  Yet after his conversion, there was no more denying by Peter that he did not know Jesus.  He (Peter) became the spokesperson to the opening of the door to the New Testament Church.  He was the spearhead for delivering the gospel to the Gentiles.  Do you know Him?  We should know Him as our Savior first of all, and then make Him known to others.

Sing: I shall know Him, I shall know Him, as redeemed by His side I shall stand; I shall know Him, I shall know Him, by the print of the nails in His hand.

Thought For Today:  We should know Him as our Savior first of all
