2012 August 9 - Morning Manna

Can two walk together, except they be agreed? (Amos 3:3)
Today's Morsel: One of the things most of us can agree on, is that when we see people walking down the street holding hands, they are usually in agreement at that present time. Whether husband and wife or girlfriend and boyfriend they are usually in agreement. And the same is usually true if we see people walking together, they are usually in agreement at some point. The psalmist says, "Behold how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity" (Psalms 133:1). Unity requires each of us to do our part to maintain the peace. Jesus Christ did everything He could while upon the earth to show us and to teach us how to maintain unity and to be at peace with each other. He said, "But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil. Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloke also. And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain. Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away. Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so? Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect" (Matthew 5:37-48). The only way you will maintain unity and peace is to follow the Master's instructions.
Sing: Hand in hand with Jesus. Hand in hand we walk each day, hand in hand along the way; walking thus I cannot stray, hand in hand with Jesus, hand in hand we walk each day.
