2011 May 27 - Morning Manna

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (Hebrews 11:1)
Today's Morsel: Are you one of those who seem to have trouble with retaining your faith?  Do you find that when you are not feeling well then your faith is almost like the mercury in a thermometer, up and down?  Why can't we get our faith to remain constant at all times?  The answer lies in our fears.  Even though we are filled with God's Spirit, we still fear the uncertainties that come into our lives.  Paul said that faith is the substance of things hoped for. Just what are you hoping for? Well whatever it is, your faith is attached to it.  Your faith is the ingredient that you hold in your hand, and as long as you hold to what you desire, you'll receive it.  But if you let go, then uncertainty comes and James says,  "For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways" (James 1:7-8).   So keep singing to yourself in psalms, hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart unto the Lord until it arrives. Remember, faith comes by hearing the Word of God, so stay close to the church and read your Bible.

Sing:  I'm learning how to lean and depend on Jesus.  He's my friend, and He's my God.  I'm learning how to lean, and depend on Jesus, I found out, that if I would trust Him, He will provide.
