Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 2026 August 18

What Do You Think of God’s Glory?

“The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge. There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard. Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun, Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race.” (Psalms 19:1-5)

Today’s Morsel: One of my highlights of the day is when I go outside during my early for my morning walks and observe the things that God has created. While the wind oftentimes blows gently across my face, I hear the chirping of birds, squirrels chasing each other, deer trying to get a snack to eat, crescent moon setting and the sun rising, stars still in the sky, majestic mountains, different trees, flowers, dogs, and even humans. And as Louie Armstrong said, I also say to myself, What wonderful world. What beauty to behold. I have seen many places in this world; and believe me, God has created a masterpiece. From His wisdom bank, what He has created, I believe that even heaven would desire to investigate. When you stand on the rim of the Grand Canyon, or along the river of Niagara Falls, or see the Purple Mountains as the sun is going down upon them in the evening or see the many species of animals on a Safari of Africa, or the huge and colorful fish in each ocean, you too will stand in awe of His beauty and splendor. David asked the Lord, What is man that you are mindful of him? Or the son of man that He would visit Him? And that you would put such glory and beauty in his hands to oversee (My wording)? If you want to change your perspective of God, get out into His creation and it will blow your mind. If you get out and observe what God has done, you won’t be like the fool and say that there is no God.

Sing: Lord, we don’t need another mountain, there are mountains and hillsides enough to climb; there are oceans and rivers enough to cross, and enough to last until the end of time. (Chorus)

Chorus: What the world needs now is love, sweet love it’s the only thing that there’s just too little of. What the world needs now is love, sweet love, no, not just for some but for everyone.

Lord, we don’t need another meadow, there are cornfields, and wheat fields enough to grow, there are sunbeams and moonbeams enough to shine, oh, Lord listen if you want to know (Chorus)

Thought For Today: “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” (Genesis 1:1)
