 Now Hiring

For the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which went out early in the morning to hire labourers into his vineyard. And when he had agreed with the labourers for a penny a day, he sent them into his vineyard. And he went out about the third hour, and saw others standing idle in the marketplace, And said unto them; Go ye also into the vineyard, and whatsoever is right I will give you. And they went their way. Again he went out about the sixth and ninth hour, and did likewise. And about the eleventh hour he went out, and found others standing idle, and saith unto them, Why stand ye here all the day idle? They say unto him, Because no man hath hired us. He saith unto them, Go ye also into the vineyard; and whatsoever is right, that shall ye receive. (Matthew 20:1-7)

Today’s Morsel: Everywhere I go these days, I see signs stating ‘Now Hiring.’ People are looking for people to work. In some cases, they are willing to give you on-the-job training. For over 2,000 years, the hidden message in the Gospel is just that, “Now Hiring’. God has been looking for laborers to work in His vineyard. Jesus said the harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Pray to the Lord of the harvest that He would send forth laborers into His harvest. Boaz wasn’t hiring, as far as we can tell, but Ruth was willing to work.  And he not only hired her, but he made her his wife, and she became instrumental in the Lord’s birth. We never know what will take place when we go to work. Especially in God’s vineyard. Lives may be saved by you accepting that job. Backsliders may return to the church because you took that job. Marriages may become reconciled because you took that job. Someone ready to commit suicide or get an abortion may change their minds all because you took that job and brought a little light to the environment. Jesus is still hiring. The pay may not be much, but the retirement plan is out of this world.

Sing: When He calls me, I will answer. When He calls me, I will hear. When He calls me, I will answer, I’ll be somewhere working for my Lord. I’ll be somewhere working, I’ll be somewhere working, I’ll be somewhere working for my Lord; I’ll be somewhere working, I’ll be somewhere working, I’ll be somewhere working for my Lord.

Thought For Today: Now Hiring for the Kingdom.

 Good News

“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength” (Isaiah 26:3-4)

Today’s Morsel:  Are you sick and tired of hearing about Covid?  I know I am.  Are you tired of all the divisiveness that the media keeps throwing our way? Are you tired of all the deception and lies being posted on Facebook? Are you tired of crooked and lying politicians and leaders? Well let me give you some good news, Jesus Christ is the answer for the world today. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. The Gospel still works. It still delivers. And it still makes men free. If you are fearful, confused, or despondent, let me tell you about my Jesus and let my Jesus save your life. Hallelujah! Friend, Jesus has told us to see that no man deceives us. This world is deceptive. If you want to live in perfect peace, then you must get your eyes on Jesus and keep them on Jesus. For the Lord Jehovah is an everlasting strength. And He is the only Prince of Peace.

Sing: Who is this who comes with healing for the halt, the blind, the lame, saying softly to the sinner follow me? Only come in faith believing as of old the people came, and the lame shall walk, the blind again shall see. It is Jesus, Jesus, sad ones weep no more.  He will heal the brokenhearted open wide the prison door, He is able to deliver evermore.

Thought For Today: The good news is the bad news is all wrong.

 Sing Praises

And Hezekiah commanded to offer the burnt offering upon the altar. And when the burnt offering began, the song of the LORD began also with the trumpets, and with the instruments ordained by David king of Israel. And all the congregation worshipped, and the singers sang, and the trumpeters sounded: and all this continued until the burnt offering was finished. And when they had made an end of offering, the king and all that were present with him bowed themselves, and worshipped. Moreover Hezekiah the king and the princes commanded the Levites to sing praise unto the LORD with the words of David, and of Asaph the seer. And they sang praises with gladness, and they bowed their heads and worshipped.(2 Chronicles 29:27-30)

Today’s Morsel: We see in scripture that when God gave Moses the Law, He commanded Him to teach it to the people. When I was in the military, I knew that if something was a command I better execute it or suffer the consequences. Jesus is our Commander in Chief and there are many things that He has commanded us to do. And the quicker we figure them out and do them, the quicker we become faithful soldiers. The Bible says, “Where the word of a king is, there is power: and who may say unto him, What doest thou?(Ecclesiastes 8:4) When King Hezekiah commanded the Levites to sing praise unto the LORD with the words of David, and of Asaph the seer. And they sang praises with gladness, and they bowed their heads and worshiped. They did it with gladness. When your pastor says "Let’s praise the Lord", Do you do it with gladness or do you just sit there and not move?  You know praise and worship say a whole lot about who you are as a Christian. Let everything that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord.

Sing: I’m gonna praise the Lord any way that I can. I’m gonna praise the Lord any way that I can. Praise Him in the morning, praise Him all day long.  I’m gonna praise the Lord any way that I can.

Thought For Today: Let everything that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord.

The Perfect Man

Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace.(Psalms 37:37)

Today’s Morsel:  If you were asked to name three perfect men, could you? We hear all the time that no one is perfect.  Why do we feel that no one is perfect? Shouldn't we all be perfect if we are born again? Or are we looking for an escape route when we want to do wrong? We can blame the flesh for our problems but what will Jesus say when you stand before Him? Do you think that He will give you a pass? I think not. Because over 2,000 years ago He told us, “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.(Matthew 5:48) (emphasis mine).  So if we are not doing everything in our power to be perfect it’s not His fault it is our own. Based on this scripture we should be able to understand what Paul meant when he wrote, “Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. Do all things without murmurings and disputings: That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world; Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.(Philippians 2:12-16) You must work to become perfect.  And after you are born-again of the water and the Spirit, it usually starts with keeping your eyes on Jesus, The Perfect Man, and simply become a doer of His word. In other words, we must stop making excuses for ourselves and follow Him with our whole hearts.   As a lady in Korea used to say, "It is tight, but it is right!"

Sing: To be like Jesus, to be like Jesus, on earth I long to be like Him.  All through life’s journey, from earth to glory, I only ask to be like Him.

Thought For Today:And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?(Job 1:8)

You Are Not Alone

“And Jacob went on his way, and the angels of God met him. And when Jacob saw them, he said, This is God's host: and he called the name of that place Mahanaim.” (Genesis 32:1-2)

Today’s Morsel: If we are not careful, we can allow fear to prevent us from seeing what God is doing in our lives.  Fear can blind us to the truth. God told Jacob from the time that he left home, that He would be with him. But because Esau had told Jacob that he would kill him for taking his birthright, Jacob was afraid to return home even after God had talked with him and told him to return. God gives Jacob a host of angels to escort him home but because of fear, he is not excited about the escort. He just says this is God's host. You would think that Jacob would be excited and able to see that God was keeping His promise to him. But he allowed fear to grip his heart. What about you? Do you allow fear to prevent you from seeing what God is trying to do in your life? Are you allowing it to prevent you from seeing that God is fulfilling His promises to you? Remember, fear torments.

Sing: I trust in God, wherever I may be, upon the land or on the raging seas, for come what may from day to day, my heavenly Father watches over, over me.

I trust in God, I know He cares for me, upon the land, or on the stormy seas, though billows roar, He keeps my soul, my heavenly Father watches over, over me.

Thought For Today: Open your eyes and rejoice.

Waiting On That Blessed Hope

For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.” (Titus 2:11-15)

Today’s Morsel: One of the things about waiting for something is it requires you to have great patience. I have sat and waited in traffic jams because of an accident. I have waited for the postman to deliver an important letter. I waited for the snowplow to come to remove the snow so that I could get to my destination. And I have waited for Jesus to heal me of sickness and illnesses. But what about that blessed hope? Paul told Titus that we are looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ. And so while we wait, let's continue to keep our eyes on the prize, and continue to look for His soon appearing.  Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward. For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry. Now the just shall live by faith. We are just waiting on Jesus, my friend. That blessed hope.  Be patient, He is coming soon.

Sing: Standing, standing, standing on the promises of Christ my Savior; standing, standing, I’m standing on the promises of God.

Thought For Today: Are you serving others while you wait?

Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 21 February 2022

 Sharing Love

These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not: But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.” Matthew 10:5-8)

Today’s Morsel:  These days, love seems to be one of those things that many are missing in their lives. We hear of teen suicide on the rise, people losing their hope and confidence, marriages being broken, confusion of identity running rampant in the lives of many. So, how do we share with them the love of God that is in our hearts? Just what can or should we be doing? Paul tells us, “As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.” (Galatians 6:10) Will doing good to all share His love? Jesus tells us, “This is my commandment, that ye love one another, as I have loved you.” (John 15:12) If we love one another will this share His love with others? It ought to, or Jesus would not have told us this. What would you say are some ways to share His love with others? For me, I share the gospel. Because the gospel is Jesus, and Jesus is God, and God is love.  And on a more practical level, I show His love in action.  Try smiling more often, opening a door for someone, taking out your neighbor's trash, shoveling a senior's snow, baking cookies for a shut-in.  Use your imagination and watch how Jesus will show you ways to show His love to others.  "This is my commandment"  He sacrificed for you, now you can sacrifice for others.

Sing: Living He loved me, dying He saved me, buried He carried my sins far away.  Rising He justified, freed me forever, one day He’s coming back glorious day.

Thought For Today: Freely you have received, freely give.

Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 19 February 2022

  Unmovable

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.(Romans 8:35-39)

Today’s Morsel: I am appalled at the number of people in the church who still struggle with their flesh on a continual basis. This is an indicator that they are not totally committed, or they have something in their heart that they have yet to let go of. Somewhat like the children of Israel. They could never let Egypt go. And it cost them the promised land. Your flesh should not control you as a new creature in Christ. You are supposed to have dominion over the flesh. Paul states that nothing would be able to separate him from the love of God. That means that he had made up his mind. If we never get to the point of nevertheless, we too will struggle with this flesh every time and miss heaven. “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord(1 Corinthians 15:58).  Walk in the newness Christ has given you.

Sing: I am determined to hold out to the end. Jesus is with me on Him I can depend; for I know I have salvation for I feel it in my soul, I am determined to hold out unto the end.’

Thought For Today: “A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.”

 Small Things

“For who hath despised the day of small things? for they shall rejoice, and shall see the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel with those seven; they are the eyes of the LORD, which run to and fro through the whole earth.” (Zechariah 4:10)

Today’s Morsel:  Often when my wife and I are going to a store or out shopping, she will see a penny lying on the ground and she will say, “Look a penny, Jesus paid me today.” And she bends down, picks it up and as she puts it in her pocket says "Thank You, Jesus."  When we lived in Okinawa Japan, the military always rounded up or down to the next nickel. So most military personnel would have no need for their pennies. So they would often place them in the church offering plates. My Japanese laundryman would sometimes give me nickels, dimes, and quarters that Americans would leave in their laundry pockets because we didn’t want to hassle with trying to exchange them at the local Japanese bank. I told him numerous times that I would give him dollars for them, but he would never take it from me. Who has despised the day of small things?  Little is much when God is in it. Don’t ever call your church small. Don’t ever think that God doesn’t care about what you may think of as a little problem. Those words are from the devil. You and Jesus are a majority in any situation. Don’t focus on numbers. Your ministry is measured by the way that people’s lives are changed based on your preaching and teaching.  Your life often consists of day-to-day small events.  Ask Jesus to be in the small things,  He cares about every detail of our lives.

Sing: Little is much when God is in it, Labor not for wealth and fame.  There’s a crown and you can win it if you go in Jesus' Name!

Thought For Today: “If a care is too small to be turned into a prayer, then it is too small to be turned into a burden.”

Open The Door

Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
(Revelation 3:20)

Today’s Morsel:  One of the things that we learn when we read scripture is that God intervenes in the affairs of men by invitation only. He and His disciples were called to the wedding feast in Cana. Jarius invited him to his house to heal his daughter. Simon invited Him to His house. And even Zaccheus came down out of the tree and received him into his home gladly. Jesus may show up at your house, but don’t expect Him to come in if you do not open the door and invite Him in. If you want Jesus’ help then, you must invite Him into the process.

Sing: Welcome into this place, welcome into this broken vessel, You desire to abide in the praises of Your people, so we lift of hands as we give our heart, as we offer up this praise unto Your name.

Thought For Today: God intervenes in the affairs of men by invitation only.

Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 16 February 2022

 Fishing and Golf

In your patience possess ye your souls. (Luke 21:19)

Today’s Morsel: I guess the reason that I like playing golf and going fishing is that they both teach you great patience. If you want to catch fish, you must be patient. Fish don't bite on your terms, they bite on their own. And with golf, if someone in front of you is playing slowly you must wait until they are done or far enough ahead so that you do not hit them. Jesus said that we must learn patience so that we do not lose our souls. James even teaches us about patience. He said, “Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receives the early and latter rain. Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh. Grudge not one against another, brethren, lest ye be condemned: behold, the judge standeth before the door. Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience. Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.(James 5:7-11) No matter what you are facing and going through, learn to be patient and wait on God and everything will fall into place.

Sing: I lean on You Lord, I lean on You Lord, for the things that I need I lean on You.  When I don’t know just what to do, I’ve got the faith You're going to see me through; You supply my every need and I lean on You.

Thought For Today: Wait on God and be of good courage.

Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 15 February 2022

 Looks The Same

For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.(2 Corinthians 11:13-15)

Today’s Morsel:  If you have ever flown, when you are arriving at your destination and heading to the baggage claims area, you will hear the announcement say, “Some bags may look the same, so please ensure that you have the correct bag.” That happened to me once. This guy took my bag from the luggage conveyor belt even with my name tag on it because he said that it looked identical to his.  When it comes to church and our salvation, we must be sure that we are at the right location and in the right place, that we are claiming the right bag! Paul says that Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light, therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness. It may look the same, but Jesus said that we would know them by their fruit. Is your church teaching what Jesus and the apostles taught? If not, flee. “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.(Matthew 7:21)  Make sure you claim the luggage with the right doctrine today.

Sing: Running for my life, I’m running for my life; running for my life, I’m running for my life.  If anybody asks you, what's the matter is with me, Tell them I’m saved, sanctified, Holy Ghost filled and water baptized, I've got Jesus in my life and I’m running for my life.

Thought For Today: Know the truth. It’s what will make you and keep you free!

Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 14 February 2022

 God’s Love

Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.

(1 John 4:11)

Today’s Morsel:  Today we celebrate Valentine's Day. I can remember as a young kid in school, we would purchase the little packets with Valentine cards or candy hearts with the words I love you or Will you be my valentine, and we would give them to our friends asking them to be our Valentine. Boys to girls and girls to boys. Valentines stress love. And since we say that we are of God, shouldn’t every day be Valentine for us towards others? Aren’t we called to love our neighbor as ourselves? “Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.(Romans 13:10) Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.  Show love to others as you meet them, not just today, but every day.

Sing: He is my everything, He is my all. He is my everything both great and small. He gave His life for me, made everything new. He is my everything, oh how about you?

Thought For Today: Happy Valentine's Day!  Love and blessings to you.

Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 12 February 2022

 That’s Love

“Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.” (Ephesians 5:25-28)

Today’s Morsel:  A few days ago, I was listening to the news and at the end of the broadcast, there was a clip of a young couple who had just gotten married. When they said, ‘I do’, little did they know that the husband would have medical issues. His kidneys began to fail. Well, to make a long story short, his new bride was a match for him and so she gave her new husband one of her kidneys so that he could live. And they called it a match made in heaven. Now that is true love.  Love must be without dissimulation. When we say, ‘I do’, it must be forever. Paul places the responsibility on the husband to love his wife as Christ loved the church. Why? Because the husband is the head and the head always sets the standard for others to emulate. Even love.  Jesus gave His all that we too might live.  That’s the greatest example of love.

Sing: Jesus went to Calvary to save a wretch like you and me, that’s love, that’s love. They hung Him high, they stretched Him wide, He hung His head for me died,  that’s love, that’s love.  But that’s not how the story ends, three days later He rose again that’s love, that’s love.

Thought For Today:He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.(1 John 4:8)

 At The Cross

“For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.” (1 Corinthians 1:18)

Today’s Morsel:  One of my favorite books is entitled, “The Power and the Wisdom of the Cross”, By J.T. Pugh. Often, I don’t think that folks understand the amount of love that was displayed and revealed at Calvary. The sacrifice that Jesus displayed as a lamb slain from the foundation of the earth should reveal to us just how much God truly loves us. Someone said that He didn’t have to do what He did, but I'm thankful that He did. No one can really preach a true message of the gospel without bringing folks to Calvary and the Cross. If compassion, kindness, and empathy aren’t pulled from our hearts when the gospel is preached, and if it doesn’t cause or make us love more, to be kind to one another more, or open our hearts to others more, then we’ve become blind to the gospel, and the preaching of the cross was not delivered.  For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. When we understand Calvary’s cross then we understand love.

Sing: Was it for crimes that I had done, He groaned upon the tree? Amazing pity! Grace unknown! And love beyond degree!

At the cross, at the cross where I first saw the light, and the burden of my heart rolled away; it was there by faith I received my sight, and now I am happy all the day!

Thought For Today: Calvary speaks of something better!

 If That Isn’t Love

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)

Today’s Morsel: For God so loved the world.  I think sometimes many can take this scripture the wrong way.  This does not mean that God approves of the wicked and wrong conduct of man, but that He has compassionate feelings toward them or an earnest desire for their salvation.  God hates wickedness, but He still desires the happiness of those who are sinful. Scripture says that He is not willing that any should perish but that all come to repentance. He hates the sin but loves the sinner.  A parent may love their child and desire their welfare, and yet be strongly opposed to the conduct of that child. When we approve the conduct of another, this is the love of contentment; when we desire them simply happiness, that is the love of compassion. And Jesus displays them both at Calvary. Do you see His love when you look at the cross?

Sing: He left His splendor of heaven, knowing His destiny, was the lonely hill of Golgotha, there to lay down His life for me.

If that isn’t love, the ocean is dry, there’s not stars in the sky, and the sparrow can’t fly! If that isn’t love, then heaven’s a myth, there no feeling like this, if that isn’t love.

Thought For Today: Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.(John 15:13)

Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 9 February 2022

 O How I Love Jesus

“Then the disciples went away again unto their own home. But Mary stood without at the sepulchre weeping: and as she wept, she stooped down, and looked into the sepulchre, And seeth two angels in white sitting, the one at the head, and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain. And they say unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? She saith unto them, Because they have taken away my Lord, and I know not where they have laid him. And when she had thus said, she turned herself back, and saw Jesus standing, and knew not that it was Jesus. Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away. Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master. Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God. Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that he had spoken these things unto her.” (John 20:10-18)

Today’s Morsel:  Mary Magdalene seemed to have a strong love for Jesus. And why shouldn’t she? Jesus had cast out seven devils from her. I cannot fathom that many devils being in a person, but when I look at my life, I would not be surprised if He didn’t cast out that many or maybe even more. When we become born-again, there is no telling just how many demons Christ cast out of us. The man in the tombs at Gadarene had over 2,000 in him. They even told Jesus when He asked them what their names were, they told Him legion, for we are many. The relationships that we have had with others who had demons that we weren’t aware of, the crazy parties we went to, all the drinking, smoking, lying, witchcraft, false religions, demonic books, movies, and television shows we sat and watched, who knows how many demons. But thank God for deliverance, thank God for His blood that washed us clean. If you want to know why I love Jesus so much, these are just a few of the demons He delivered and washed me from. What ab0ut you? Can you relate? I can feel what Mary Magdalene felt. Relief from torment and confusion. That’s why I love Jesus!

Sing: There is a name I love to hear, I love to sing its worth; it sounds like music in my ear, the sweetest name on earth.

O how I love Jesus, O how I love Jesus, O how I love Jesus, because He first loved me.

Thought For Today: If Jesus has delivered you, you ought to love Him.

 The Same Love

If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies, Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.(Philippians 2:1-2)

Today’s Morsel: How much are you imitating Jesus by your love? Is your love the same as His? Do you possess the same love in quality, being warm and cheerful, sincere, truthful, and genuine? Do you have the same love for others as you do for Christ? Do you have the same love for the doctrine of Christ, the same ministers of the gospel, for all the saints, rich and poor, high, and low, weak or strong believers, are you without impartiality? Paul calls for the church to have the same love. You see, God is not divided, He’s one. So, if we say that we are His, then we must be the same as He and His Father were (John 10:10). They were one.  “Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.” (1 John 4:11) The sign of true Christianity is the love we display towards others (John 13:34).

Sing: All my heart to Him I give, ever to Him I’ll cling.  In His blessed presence live, ever His praises sing.  Love so mighty and so true, merit my soul’s best songs.  Faithful, loving service, too, to Him belongs.

Love lifted me! Love lifted me! When nothing else could help, love lifted me. Love lifted me! Love lifted me! When nothing else could help, love lifted me.
