The End
“The
preacher sought to find out acceptable words: and that which was written was upright, even words
of truth. The words of the wise are as goads, and as nails fastened by the
masters of assemblies, which are given from one shepherd. And
further, by these, my son, be admonished: of making many books there is no
end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh. Let us hear the
conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for
this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every
work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or
whether it be evil.”
(Ecclesiastes 12:10-14)
Today’s Morsel: If
you have ever watched a play, you will have seen that at the end there is often
a curtain call. A curtain call is the appearance of the
performers at the conclusion of a theatrical or other performance in response
to the applause of the audience. Solomon lets us
know that there is going to be an end to this life and to this world. And
so he calls for us to hear
the conclusion of the whole matter. And that is to fear God and keep His commandments: for this is the
whole duty of man. Solomon tells us that God shall bring every work into
judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or
whether it be evil.
Folks, there is going to be an end to this play we call life. Will
you receive a curtain call?
Sing:
O’ my brother, are you ready for the call? To crown your Savior King and
Lord of all. The kingdoms of this world shall soon before Him fall, we
shall see the King when He comes.
We shall see the King, we
shall see the King, we shall see the King when He comes. He’s coming in
His power, we’ll hail the blessed hour; we shall see the King when He comes.
Thought For Today: “His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good
and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make
thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.” (Matthew 25:21)
