Is It Worth It?
“For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the
truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, But a certain fearful
looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.”
(Hebrews 10:26-27)
Today’s Morsel: When I used to
counsel inmates in prison, I would often ask them what lessons they had learned
by now being incarcerated? And many of them would tell me they had
learned that what they had done was not worth the time they were now having to
serve in prison. What most people fail to realize is there are
consequences to every decision we make. Many people will lie, cheat, and
steal to get ahead, but is it worth it? As Solomon tells, “There is a way
which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.”
(Proverbs 14:12) People will lie on their tax returns, but is it worth
it? Is it worth living knowing that you are wrong? Is it worth
living in fear of what someone else will find out about you. Is it worth
losing your good name or disgracing your family because of what you think is a
secret affair? Once we are born-again, we must consider every decision,
relationship, friendship, or dealing carefully, because if we sin willfully
after we have received the knowledge of the truth, the fires of hell will not
be worth it. With every decision comes a consequence. He sets
before us a blessing or curse, I choose the blessing.
Sing: Turn your eyes upon Jesus, look
full in His wonderful face, and the things of this earth will go strangely dim
in the light of His glory and grace.
Thought For Today: “Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free,
and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.” (Galatians 5:1)
