D-Day
“And I will restore
to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the
caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you. And ye
shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the LORD your
God, that hath dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall never be ashamed.
And ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am the LORD your
God, and none else: and my people shall never be ashamed. And it shall come to
pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons
and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young
men shall see visions: And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in
those days will I pour out my spirit. And I will shew wonders in the heavens
and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke. The sun shall be
turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the
terrible day of the LORD come. And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall
call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in
Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom
the LORD shall call.”
(Joel 2:25-32)
(Joel 2:25-32)
Today’s
Morsel: On June 6, 1944, more than
156,000 American, British, and Canadian troops stormed 50 miles of Normandy's
fiercely defended beaches in northern France in an operation called D-Day. It was the largest seaborne
invasion in history. The operation began the liberation of German-occupied
France (and later western Europe) and laid the foundations of the Allied
victory on the Western Front.
The Lord had prophesied through the prophet Joel
that there would be another D-Day. A day in which He would pour out His
Spirit upon all flesh. And Luke wrote, “And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one
accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a
rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And
there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each
of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with
other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.” (Acts 2:1-4)
And the apostle Peter would confirm that this was that day which Joel had
prophesied would come. “But this is that which was spoken by the prophet
Joel; And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of
my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and
your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: And on
my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit;
and they shall prophesy: And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in
the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke: The sun shall be
turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable
day of the Lord come: And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on
the name of the Lord shall be saved” he said, (Acts 2:16-21). If you are
feeling held captivated, let me encourage you, liberation has already
come. Jesus has made us free!
Sing: He set me free, yes, He set me
free. He broke the bars of prison for me. I’m glory bound my Jesus
to see; Glory to God, He set me free.
Thought For Today: Whom the Son
makes free is free indeed!
