Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 15 January 2020

The Seed

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.(Galatians 5:22-23)

Today’s Morsel:  God created the fruit tree on the third day, “And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.(Genesis 1:11)  Notice, the seed was in the fruit and the fruit was in the seed.  And it was to yield fruit after his kind.  In the parable of the sower, Jesus said the seed was the word of God.  John wrote, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God … And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.(John 1:1,14)”  Notice, the seed is Jesus.  If we are not producing fruit after Him, (His Spirit) then we must ask ourselves what seed is in us, as no tree can produce two kinds of fruit.

Sing:  To be like Jesus, to be like Jesus, on earth I long to be like Him.  All through life’s journey from earth to glory, I only ask to be like Him.

Thought for today: “No tree can produce two kinds of fruit” (Parker)
