Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 2017 December 11

"But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting" (Micah 5:2)

Today’s Morsel:  Bethlehem means the house of bread. And Ephratah means fruitfulness.  Micah prophesied that this small town would bring forth an abundance of bread.  Jesus told the people, as this prophecy reference to Him, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world. Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread. And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. But I said unto you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not” (John 6:32-36).  There will never be a need to beg for bread when you know Jesus.  Don’t despise the small city you live it.   You just might be God’s next preacher.

Sing: O little town of Bethlehem, how still we see thee lie; above the deep and dreamless sleep the silent stars go by.  Yet in they dark streets shineth the everlasting Light; the hopes and fears of all the years are met in thee tonight.

Thought For Today:  Don’t despise the small city you live it. You just might be God’s next preacher.
