Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 2017 September 27

“For all our days are passed away in thy wrath: we spend our years as a tale that is told. The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away”
(Psalms 90:9-10).

Today Morsel:  I don’t know if you are a frequent flier or not, but if you are, I’m sure you’ve heard these words, “Thank you for flying with us.”  No matter how bad we may think the service we received on the airline was, or the delays we experienced, they still want your business; and so they tell you how much they appreciate you, whether it’s true or not.  But no matter how much hassle or how many delays we may experience, we still get to fly to our destination.  Somewhat like the Psalmist said, “For all our days are passed away in thy wrath: we spend our years as a tale that is told. The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.”  One-day Paul said, “For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so, shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words” (1 Thessalonians 4:16-18).  As the group Gold City sang, “Get up, get ready, we’re getting ready to fly."

Sing:  I’ll fly away Oh glory, I’ll fly away. When I see Jesus coming after me, I’ll fly away!

Thought For Today: “Prepare now so that you do not miss your flight.”
