Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 2017 February 20

Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another; Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer; Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality” (Romans 12:9-13).

Today’s Morsel:  A true reflection of God’s love is seen not only in how we treat others, but also in how we treat our self.  I find that those who continually condemn themselves, or condemn others, do not know love.  Their love is fake.  It’s not real.  I’ve heard people say, “Oh, I have to love you, but I don’t have to like you.”  If that is the case, then is that love real?  If someone tells me they love me, and yet will not talk to me, or they shun me when they see me out and about, isn’t that fake love?  John said, “If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen” (1 John 4:20)?  Jesus never avoided anyone. “And he must needs go through Samaria” (John 4:4).   Even those who did not like Him or care for Him, He still went where they were.  Because true love will cover a multitude of sins and it will be willing to forgive.   Ask yourself, is your love true today?

Sing: Even in death He remembered the thief hanging by His side; He spoke with love and compassion, then He took him to paradise.
If that isn’t love the ocean is dry, there’s no stars in the sky, and the sparrow can’t fly!  If that isn’t love then heaven’s a myth, there’s no feeling like this, if that isn’t love.

Thought For Today:  Let love be without dissimulation.

Let it not be so with me, Oh God! But rather, help me to love my neighbor as myself.
