Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 2017 February 28

For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us. (2 Corinthians 1:20)

Today’s Morsel:  How do you feel when someone makes you a promise and then they don’t fulfill it?  As kids, we often would say to those who were supposed be our friends, “I’m going to tell you a secret, do you promise not to tell anyone?”  They would agree not to tell, but so often we soon found out that they did tell someone else, and the wild fire began to burn.  Paul said that all the promises which God has made to mankind are yes and true in themselves, and amen, faithfully fulfilled to them who believe in Christ Jesus.  The promises are all made about Christ; for it is only through the Gospel of Christ that we can have promises of His grace and mercy.  The writer of Hebrews tells us, “For when God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he sware by himself, Saying, Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee. And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise. For men verily swear by the greater: and an oath for confirmation is to them an end of all strife. Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath: That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us: Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil; Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec” (Hebrews 6:13-20).  Friend, when God makes you a promise, it will be fulfilled.

Sing:  He’s coming soon, He’s coming soon; with joy, we welcome His returning.  It may be morn, it may be night or noon, we know He’s coming soon.

Thought For Today: God can’t lie!
