That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord. (Romans 5:21)
Today's Morsel: Most people aren't aware that to obtain righteousness, it simply begins with doing right. I heard this song, that said, "I need just a little more grace." Well, if we need a little more grace, it will come through doing what is right. More than anything else, the word of God calls for us to do what is right. If you will notice, God didn't reject Cain's offering first, He rejected Cain. "But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell. And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen? If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him" (Genesis 4:5-7). The offering is always associated with the giver. If the giver isn't right in his heart, then God doesn't accept the person nor the offering. "Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee; Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift"(Matthew 5:23-24). For as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.
Sing: Give thanks with a grateful heart, give thanks to the Holy One, give thanks because He's given Jesus Christ, His Son. And now let the weak say I am strong, let the poor say I am rich because of what the Lord has done for us, give thanks.
