2011 November 10 - Morning Manna

"Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.  He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him. As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me. This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever. These things said he in the synagogue, as he taught in Capernaum. Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is an hard saying; who can hear it? When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, Doth this offend you? What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before? It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him. And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father. From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him. Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away? Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life. And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God" (John 6:53-69)

Today's Morsel: Since I have been in the church, I have noticed that many people are quickly offended over the smallest things.  It's too cold.  It's too hot.  Nobody likes my opinion.  It's too loud.  That's not the way that song was written to be sung.  The music was off beat. The drummer was way too loud.  The pastor preached too long. The kids made too much noise.  I don't believe that they don't have a nursery for the kids and someone to watch them.  Because of these things, many folks walk away from the church.  These little things were more important to them than Christ.  You aren't going to find a church that is perfect in every way.  If you allow the little things to push you away, you will soon be lost. The enemy of your soul knows that without faith you can't please God, and that faith comes by hearing the Word of God.  I'm sure you've heard the saying, "I know you think you heard what I said, but I'm not sure you understood what I meant."  I have had people say to me, "But you said....."  And I would have to say, "No, that is not what I said.  That is what you thought I said."  They were offended over what they thought I had said.  When Jesus made the comment, "Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you;" many of his disciples said, This is an hard saying; who can hear it?  And from that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him. They were offended at His saying.  And when Jesus turned to the twelve, which He had chosen, He asked them, "Will ye also go away?"  Simon Peter answered him, "Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life. And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God."  When you know truth, little things don't offend you and push you away from the Truth.

Sing: I'm going through, yes, I'm going through, I'll pay the price, whatever others do; I'll take the way, with the Lord's despised few; I started out with Jesus, and I'm going through.
