"Most men will proclaim every one his own goodness: but a faithful man who can find? The just man walketh in his integrity: his children are blessed after him. A king that sitteth in the throne of judgment scattereth away all evil with his eyes. Who can say, I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin? Divers weights, and divers measures, both of them are alike abomination to the LORD. Even a child is known by his doings, whether his work be pure, and whether it be right" (Proverbs 20:6-11)
Today's Morsel: I am often amazed at the wisdom that flows from the book of Proverbs. Every life could be complete in Jesus if we would just follow the advice Solomon gives in this short book. A daily read from its pages can work wonders in a person's life. God left nothing concealed about how we should live and how to be successful when He gave Solomon the wisdom to pen this book. For example; in one passage, Solomon says that everyone will talk about how good they are but it's hard to find those same people being faithful. Then he tells us if we want our children to be blessed, we need to walk honest, open, and candid before them, as the acorn doesn't fall too far from the tree. What wisdom. And then he says that even a child is known by his doings, whether his work be pure, and whether it be right. It has been said that reputation is what you need to get a job; but character is what you need to keep it. Character is who you are. Character is displayed in such things as loyalty, decisiveness, judgment, initiative, bearing, and humor. Character is developed through those day to day struggles and trials that you encounter. It's the moral fiber that holds you together when the world around you is crumbling. Good character, like good soup, is made at home. How's yours? Spend time in the book of Proverbs and increase your wisdom and develop your character.
Sing: The greatest thing in all my life is knowing you! The greatest thing in all my life is knowing you! I want to know you more, I want to know you more; the greatest thing in all my life is knowing you!
