He must increase, but I must decrease. (John 3:30)
Today's Morsel: To increase is to add and to decrease is to subtract or take away. Therefore, in order for Jesus to increase in our lives, we must take away our wishes and desires and allow His wishes and desires to be fulfilled in us. Peter said that if we will add to our faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; and to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; and to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity; that if these things be in us, and abound, they make that we shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ (2 Peter 1:5-8). Who do people see the most of in you? You or Jesus. John said that he must decrease so that Jesus could increase. If it is all about you, then you can rest assured that Jesus isn't being seen in you. If you are concerned about your status and what people think about you, then you can bet that Jesus isn't being seen in you. You need to decrease. Because when people can see Jesus in His rightful position in your life, then, then only then can they see you for who you really are. A servant of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Sing: I'm gonna lift up the name of Jesus! I'm gonna sing of the joy since He came! I'm gonna tell of His power every day and every hour, I'm gonna lift up that wonderful name.
