2011 May 3 - Morning Manna

If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do? (Psalms 11:3)

Today's Morsel:  Foundations are the platform that  buildings are built upon.  Your foundation will determine if your building will stand or fall.  Jesus spoke of a foundation when he said, "Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it" (Matthew 7:21-27).  He spoke of Himself.  Paul said, "For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ" (1 Corinthians 3:11).  And He said that we are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit (Ephesians 2:20-22).  What is your life built on?  How solid is your foundation?  Is your doctrine sound, and is it based on Jesus Christ?  What will you do if all of a sudden your foundation begins to crumble?  The writer of Hebrews said that anything that will be shaken will be shaken.  Even our faith will be tested to determine what we are built on.  When your life is built upon Jesus Christ and His Word, you don't have to be troubled about the building.  It'll always remain intact and standing.

Sing: I've anchored in Jesus, the storms of life I'll brave, I've anchored in Jesus, I fear no wind or wave, I've anchored in Jesus for He hath power to save, I've anchored to the Rock of Ages.
