It Starts Right Here, Right Now
“And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” (Joshua 24:15)
Today’s Morsel: Joshua called for the people to make an immediate decision whether they were going to serve God or not. He did not tell them to go and pray about, think about, ponder on it, and then come back tomorrow with an answer. He told them choose you this day. He said it starts right here right now. Are you going to serve the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell. He said, just so that you know, I have already made up my mind for me and my family. We are going to serve the Lord. Elijah even asks the people: “And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, how long halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word.” (1 Kings 18:21) You must choose whom you are going to serve and become committed and dedicate to Him. Jesus said “No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.” (Matthew 6:24).Today, the ball falls in your court. Who are you going to serve?
Sing: Jesus is all the world to me, I want no better friend, I trust Him now, I’ll trust Him when Life’s fleeting days shall end. Beautiful life with such a friend, beautiful life that has no end. Eternal life, eternal joy, He’s my friend.
Thought For Today: “And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.” (Luke 9:23)
