Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 14 June 2023

Flag Day

“Thou hast given a banner to them that fear thee, that it may be displayed because of the truth. Selah.” (Psalms 60:4)

Today’s Morsel: Since 1916, when President Woodrow Wilson issued a presidential proclamation establishing a national Flag Day on June 14, Americans have commemorated the adoption of the Stars and Stripes in many ways, displaying the flag in the front of their homes, parades, and other patriotic observances. Today also marks the Birthday of the US Army. The U.S. Army is 245 years old and counting. That’s a LOT of birthday candles! The annual celebration marks the date in history in 1775 when the Continental Army was formed by the Second Continental Congress and commanded under General George Washington to fight against Britain. The Psalmist states: “Thou hast given a banner to them that fear thee, that it may be displayed because of the truth.”  Are you lifting up your flag of truth?

Sing: Joy is the flag that’s flown from the castle of my heart, from the castle of my heart, from the castle of my heart.  Joy is the flag that’s flown from the castle of my heart when the King is in residence there. So, lift it high in the sky that the whole world knows, that the whole world knows, that the whole world knows; So, lift it high in the sky that the whole world knows, that the King is in residence there.

Happy Birthday my fellow soldiers. Hooah!
