Kind Words
“A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.” (Proverbs 15:1)
Today’s Morsel: Are you aware that how you speak, and the words that you use, determine and reveal if you have the Holy Ghost or not? After denying that he knew Jesus twice, the woman told Simon Peter that he was one of Jesus' disciples because his speech betrayed him. Now, granted, Peter, was from Galilee, so his dialect would have probably showed that he was not from that part. But prior to the third denial, Peter started to swear and curse, using profanity, and words that he hoped would help save his life (Matthew 26:74) And then the cock crowed twice. What do your words say about you? Does your speech betray you that you belong to Jesus? Solomon said that kind words turn away anger. If you yell, scream, holler, or demean people with your words, those same words will come back toward you, as someone else will use them against you. Always remember, the Holy Ghost came with temperance, which is self-control. And you ought to be able to control your tongue. Remember, death and life are in the power of the tongue. Not only will it hurt and destroy others, but it will also destroy you.
Sing: Let me walk in the light, in the great Gospel Light, let me walk in the Gospel Light. Till my journey is over and I travel no more, let me walk in the Gospel Light.
