What Are You Wearing?
“Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.” (Colossians 3:12-14)
Today’s Morsel: When you awake in the morning, do you have trouble deciding what you are going to wear that day? Some folks want to look nice and modest because they respect themselves, while others could care less about respect for themselves, how they look, or what they have on. They say, no one is going to tell me what to wear or put on. But what does your attire reveal to others about who you are and your character? As a Christian, you should realize that you are a representation of Christ. No, no one can tell you what to wear, but there should be something inside you that speaks to you, cautions you as to whose you are, and remind you that you are an ambassador for Christ (2 Corinthians 5:20). We are told by the apostle Paul to put on holiness, compassion, kindness, humility, patience, tolerance, forgiveness, and love which is the bond of completeness. When we clothe ourselves the way that God’s word calls for us to, we will see just how beautiful holiness really is.
Sing: The windows of heaven are open; God’s power is falling tonight. There’s joy, joy, joy in my heart since Jesus made everything right. I gave Him my old, tattered garments, He gave me a robe of pure white. I’m feasting on manna from heaven, and that’s why I’m happy tonight.
