Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 2018 December 3

“Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed? For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him” (Isaiah 53:1-2).

Today’s morsel:  The report of the coming Messiah was not accepted by everyone, somewhat like today. You can tell people that Jesus is coming again, yet many will not believe your report.  Isaiah said that Jesus would grow up as a tender plant and as a root out of the dry ground.  He goes on to tell us, “And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious” (Isaiah 11:10).  The apostle Paul would inform us, “Now I say that Jesus Christ was a minister of the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made unto the fathers: And that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy; as it is written, For this cause I will confess to thee among the Gentiles, and sing unto thy name. And again he saith, Rejoice, ye Gentiles, with his people. And again, Praise the Lord, all ye Gentiles; and laud him, all ye people” (Romans 15:8-11).  The Jews did not receive the report, and for this reason, Jesus was not manifested to them as the promised Messiah.  Whose report will you believe?  I choose to believe the truth of God's word.

Sing:  Whose report will you believe? We shall believe the report of the Lord?  Whose report will you believe? We shall believe the report of the Lord.  His report says I am healed.  His report says I am filled.  His report says I am free, His report says victory.

Thought For Today:  Whose report will you believe?
