Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 2018 December 4

“Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding. For I give you good doctrine, forsake ye not my law. For I was my father's son, tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother. He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live. Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth. Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee. Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding. Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her. She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee” (Proverbs 4:1-9).

Today’s Morsel:  In today’s world, so many seem to be void of wisdom in their lives.  For those who are born-again, it must not be so.  Paul told the church at Corinth that Jesus Christ was the wisdom and power of God (1 Corinthians 1:24).  Wisdom is the principle thing.   The most important thing in all religion is to know the one true God and what he requires of us.  We must know the purpose for which He created us.  To this, we must also know Jesus Christ and why He was sent.   He was sent to save His people from their sins.    No child of God should ever be void of wisdom.  A life that is void of wisdom is a life without Jesus Christ.

Sing:  Who is this who for our sorrow offers comfort and relief, bringing sunshine to the dark and shadowed life?  Saying softly, “Cease repining lift thy soul above its grief, let the peace past understanding still the strife.”
It is Jesus! Jesus!  Sad ones weep no more!  He will heal the brokenhearted, open wide the prison doors.  He is able to deliver evermore.

Thought For Today:  The deeper you go in Christ, the more wisdom you will know (Parker).
