And it came to pass, that as he was come nigh unto Jericho, a certain blind man sat by the way side begging: And hearing the multitude pass by, he asked what it meant. And they told him, that Jesus of Nazareth passeth by. And he cried, saying, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me. And they which went before rebuked him, that he should hold his peace: but he cried so much the more, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me. And Jesus stood, and commanded him to be brought unto him: and when he was come near, he asked him, Saying, What wilt thou that I shall do unto thee? And he said, Lord, that I may receive my sight. And Jesus said unto him, Receive thy sight: thy faith hath saved thee. And immediately he received his sight, and followed him, glorifying God: and all the people, when they saw it, gave praise unto God. (Luke 18:35-43)
Today's Morsel: They say that opportunity knocks once and if you miss it, you may never get another chance. How many opportunities do you think you have missed in your life to tell someone about Jesus? Or how many times do you think you have missed an opportunity to do good to someone else? How about seeking forgiveness? I think that we can all agree that we have missed a few opportunities in our lives. But today, we see that the blind man was not about the allow the opportunity to be healed and to receive his sight to pass him by. So when he heard that Jesus was passing by, he began to call out to Him. And when others told him basically to be quiet, he got louder because he did not want to miss this opportunity. Let me encourage you today, don't allow any opportunities for Christ pass you by; whether it is to do good or to tell someone about Jesus, it could be the only opportunity you get.
Sing: Pass me not, O gentle Savior, hear my humble cry. While on others Thou art calling, do not pass me by.
Savior, Savior, hear my humble cry. While on others Thou art calling, do not pass me by.
Thought for Today: Don't let the opportunity pass you by.
