2014 December 17 - Morning Manna

And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. (Luke 2:8-14)

Today's Morsel:  What would you do if you looked up in to the sky and saw a host of angels praising God and saying,  Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men?  Well this is what happened in Bethlehem over 2000 years ago at the birth of Jesus.  The heavenly host announced His arrival just as scripture said that they would.  This annunciation by the angels that a Savior had been born, even today, should cause us to be excited and ready to worship Him.  Many in Jesus' time were looking for Him to come, but others were not.  Some, like today, had no idea what it was all about.   Many people wondered what the shepherds told them, and even today, many still wonder when the shepherd, their pastor, tells them.  But not Mary.  Scripture says that she kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.  And even the shepherds, when they had seen Jesus, returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.  What is your response when you hear the gospel?  Do you get excited about the good news about of Jesus Christ?  Do you go tell others, glorifying and praising God?

Sing: Said the little lamb to the shepherd boy, do you hear what I hear, ringing through the sky shepherd boy,.  Do you hear what I hear?  A song, a song high above the tree with a voice as big as the sea, with a voice as big as the sea

Said the shepherd boy to the mighty king, do you know what I know, in your palace wall mighty king.  Do you know what I know?  A child, a child, shivers in the cold,  let us bring him silver and gold, let us bring him silver and gold

Said the king to the people everywhere, listen to what I say, pray for peace people everywhere.  Listen to what I say, the child, the child, sleeping in the night, He will bring us goodness and light,  He will bring us goodness and light.
