Paul and Timotheus, the servants of Jesus Christ, to all the saints in Christ Jesus which are at Philippi, with the bishops and deacons: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ. I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy, For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now; Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ: (Philippians 1:1-6)
Today's Morsel: The military is all about building peoples' self confidence. If you've ever seen soldiers train, they all have to negotiate the obstacle course, or what some call the confidence course. It is called that because every obstacle is designed to build and strengthen your confidence. Even Airborne, Ranger, Air Assault, and Special Operation Schools are designed to build confidence. You know, in many ways, the church does the same thing. Because you are going to encounter spiritual warfare, you need to have strong confidence in your abilities to accomplish what you are being asked to do. But sad to say, too many Christians are weak in their confidence when it comes to doing things for the Lord. If there were ever a people who should have strong confidence, it is born again believers, because Jesus said, "Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven"(Luke 10:19-20). Some of the obstacles on the confidence course are frightening when you first see them, but once you have negotiated them, you look back and say with confidence, "Piece of cake." Paul told the church at Philippi, "I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy, For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now; Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ." He told them that he had the confidence that what God started in them, He would complete. And I want you to become the church at Philippi and see Paul speaking to you. What God started in you, He will complete. So don't give up and don't give in. Pretty soon you'll look back and say, "Piece of cake!"
Sing: Our Lord God, Thou hast made the heavens and the earth, by Thou great power. Our Lord God, thou hast made the heavens and the earth by Thou outstretched arm.
Nothing is too difficult for Thee. Nothing is too difficult for Thee. Nothing! Nothing! Absolutely nothing! Nothing is to difficult for Thee.
