Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 2025 September 2

What’s Your Cause?

“Produce your cause, saith the LORD; bring forth your strong reasons, saith the King of Jacob.” (Isaiah 41:21)

Today’s Morsel: One of the things I like about God is that He is not afraid to challenge you when you think that He is wrong and that you are right. Even those of you who may worship idols, false gods, and practice false doctrine, God is not afraid to ask you to prove your cause. God says present your case before me. Bring forth your strongest reason that you can come up with, and let’s see if you can prove me wrong and yourself right. The psalmist states: “Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men's hands. They have mouths, but they speak not: eyes have they, but they see not: They have ears, but they hear not: noses have they, but they smell not: They have hands, but they handle not: feet have they, but they walk not: neither speak they through their throat. They that make them are like unto them; so is every one that trusteth in them. O Israel, trust thou in the LORD: he is their help and their shield. O house of Aaron, trust in the LORD: he is their help and their shield. Ye that fear the LORD, trust in the LORD: he is their help and their shield. The LORD hath been mindful of us: he will bless us; he will bless the house of Israel; he will bless the house of Aaron. He will bless them that fear the LORD, both small and great. The LORD shall increase you more and more, you and your children. Ye are blessed of the LORD which made heaven and earth.” (Psalms 115:4-15) He said that idols and false gods can do nothing for you. As Elijah told the false prophets of Baal: “And Elijah said unto the prophets of Baal, Choose you one bullock for yourselves, and dress it first; for ye are many; and call on the name of your gods, but put no fire under. And they took the bullock which was given them, and they dressed it, and called on the name of Baal from morning even until noon, saying, O Baal, hear us. But there was no voice, nor any that answered. And they leaped upon the altar which was made. And it came to pass at noon, that Elijah mocked them, and said, Cry aloud: for he is a god; either he is talking, or he is pursuing, or he is in a journey, or peradventure he sleepeth, and must be awaked.” (1 Kings 18:25-27) You can worship and serve idols and false gods all day long, but there is nothing they can do for you. You need the One true God. So, what is your cause for serving them?

Sing: There is none like You, no one else can touch my heart like You do. I can search through all eternity long and find, there is none like You.

Thought For Today: “To whom then will ye liken me, or shall I be equal? saith the Holy One.” (Isaiah 40:25)
