All You Need
“And the priests brought in the ark of the covenant of the LORD unto his place, into the oracle of the house, to the most holy place, even under the wings of the cherubims. For the cherubims spread forth their two wings over the place of the ark, and the cherubims covered the ark and the staves thereof above. And they drew out the staves, that the ends of the staves were seen out in the holy place before the oracle, and they were not seen without: and there they are unto this day. There was nothing in the ark save the two tables of stone, which Moses put there at Horeb, when the LORD made a covenant with the children of Israel, when they came out of the land of Egypt.” (1 Kings 8:6-9)
Today’s Morsel: From the construction of the Ark of The Covenant, God had instructed Moses to place three items inside the Ark for a memorial for the children of Israel as a reminder to them of His previsions for them during their 40 years in the wilderness. These items were a pot of manna, the table of stones, and Aaron’s rod which budded. But now, years later, we see that only the two tables of stone remained inside of the Ark. These table of stones represented the Word of God. This lets us know that when we have the Word of God, we not only have the Word of life, but we also have the bread of life, and His rod and staff to guide us and to lead us into all truth. As the psalmist said: “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” (Psalms 119:105) If we have the Word of God in our life and in our churches, then we have everything that we need to be successful and to lead us and others to the Promise Land and His eternal rest.
