Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 15 May 2019

What Manner of Men Ought We to Be?
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?” (2 Peter 3:9-12)

Today’s Morsel: Paul informed us that in the last day’s perilous times would come.  He said that men would be lovers of themselves and give heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils. Having this knowledge from Paul, Peter asked what manner of men we ought to be in all holy behavior and virtue.  It seems that the things that Peter says that men ought to be, men are becoming just the opposite. “Wherefore, Paul said, come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.” (2 Corinthians 6:17-7:1)  The man of God must always be the man of God.  That is what kind of men we must be in this evil and adulterous world in these last days.

Sing: Holiness! Holiness! Is what I long for. Holiness! Holiness! Is what I need. Holiness! Holiness! Is what I long to be. So, take my heart transform it;  Take my life conform it, to Yours, to Yours.  So, take my heart transform it, take my life conform it, to Yours, to Yours, O’ Lord.

Thought For Today: The man of God must always be the man of God (Parker)
