Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 2018 June 5

“Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved. For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth” (Romans 10:1-4).

Today’s Morsel:  On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being highest, where are you at with your righteousness?  One of the things about being a Christian is either you are or you aren’t.  There is no in-between.  Many like to say that no one is perfect.  God isn’t asking us to be perfect in the sense of without any faults, even though that should be our end-state; He is asking us to be complete in Him.  And if we are complete in Him, we will do everything we can to be without fault all the time.  And that includes righteousness.  If we are truly Christians, then our goal is to always do what is right because Jesus is right.  We cannot assume a title if we are not going to live what we say that we are.  Paul said that Jesus is the end to the law for righteousness to everyone that believes.  Do you know why?  Paul said, “For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ” (Galatians 3:27).  Therefore, if we have Him on, then everything He is we must be also.

Sing:  To be like Jesus.  To be like Jesus.  On earth I long to be like Him.  All through life’s journey, from earth to glory, I only ask to be like Him.

Thought For Today:  “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect” (Matthew 5:48).
