The vision of Obadiah. Thus saith the Lord GOD concerning Edom; We have heard a rumour from the LORD, and an ambassador is sent among the heathen, Arise ye, and let us rise up against her in battle. Behold, I have made thee small among the heathen: thou art greatly despised. The pride of thine heart hath deceived thee, thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high; that saith in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground? Though thou exalt thyself as the eagle, and though thou set thy nest among the stars, thence will I bring thee down, saith the LORD. (Obadiah 1:1-4)
Today's Morsel: Have you heard the latest rumor? Why do rumors seem to spread faster than truth? Why do we not evaluate rumors to see if they are true before we tell them to someone else? Many folks' good character have been destroyed because of someone else's rumor about them. Obadiah said that they had heard a rumor from the Lord. "Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows. Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake. And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved" (Matthew 24:4-13). Jesus said that there are going to be rumors in the last days, but we must not allow them to shake us. We must still remain focused and keep our eyes on the prize. Everything that can be shaken will be shaken, don't be one that's shaken away from truth in the last days.
Sing: There's a sweet, sweet, Spirit in this place, and I know that it's the Spirit of the Lord. There are sweet expressions on each face, and I know that it's the Spirit of the Lord.
Sweet Holy Spirit, sweet heavenly Dove, Stay right here with us, filling us with Your love, and for these blessings, we lift our hearts in praise, without a doubt we'll know that we have been revived when we shall leave this place.
Thought for Today: Don't be drawn into the rumor mill. Rumors are called lies.
