2012 October 17 - Morning Manna

For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you. (John 13:15).
Today's Morsel: Are you a good example? Whether you think so or not, you are influencing someone else every day. Whether it is for the good or the bad, you are influencing someone else. Mothers and fathers are influencing their children by the things they say, do, watch, read, and the places they go. Pastors are influencing their congregations. Businessmen are influencing their employees. And presidents influence their nations and constituents. It is sad to say, many of us may never consider what influence we are having on others until it is too late. I was in a store once, and I heard all this profanity taking place, and so I was going to correct the situation. And as I rounded the corner to see where it was coming from, to my surprise, it was a little 3 year old in a shopping cart, using this language towards his father. I'm sure many of you have seen and heard the same thing, especially in today's world. A good example always starts at home, as the parents of the home are leadership. Good leadership always sets a good example. Jesus told His disciples, "I have given you an example." It's one of the main principles of leadership. Setting the example. Leaders who do not set a good example before their followers, will see the same example from them. Solomon said, "If a ruler hearken to lies, all his servants are wicked"(Proverbs 29:12). Scripture says, "Now these be the last words of David. David the son of Jesse said, and the man who was raised up on high, the anointed of the God of Jacob, and the sweet psalmist of Israel, said, The Spirit of the LORD spake by me, and his word was in my tongue. The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spake to me, He that ruleth over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God. And he shall be as the light of the morning, when the sun riseth, even a morning without clouds; as the tender grass springing out of the earth by clear shining after rain" (2 Samuel 23:1-4). The best example you can give to others is a godly example, because that's what Jesus left us.
Sing: Show me Your ways, That I may walk with You. Show me Your ways, I put my hope in You. Chorus: The cry of my heart, Is to love You more, To live with the touch of Your hand. Stronger each day, Show me Your ways.
