2012 March 8 - Morning Manna

And the angel of God spake unto me in a dream, saying, Jacob: And I said, Here am I. And he said, Lift up now thine eyes, and see, all the rams which leap upon the cattle are ringstraked, speckled, and grisled: for I have seen all that Laban doeth unto thee. I am the God of Bethel, where thou anointedst the pillar, and where thou vowedst a vow unto me: now arise, get thee out from this land, and return unto the land of thy kindred. And Rachel and Leah answered and said unto him, Is there yet any portion or inheritance for us in our father's house?
Today's Morsel: I saw a bumper sticker on a car that said, "We are on vacation and we are spending our kid’s inheritance." In school we were taught if Sally's mother baked a pie and she gave Johnny ¼ of the pie and Billy ¼ of the pie, what portion of the pie did she give them? Of course we would say, ½. What would you say is your portion in the Lord? Have you really considered your portion? As a child of God, what is your portion in the kingdom? You see, the word inheritance comes from the root word inherit. Which means, to come into possession of, or receive, esp., as right of divine portion. Jeremiah said, "The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him" (Lamentations 3:24). Aren't you glad that Jesus is your portion? What are you doing with your portion? Are you sharing it with others? Are you dividing it evenly among the saints when you preach? Jesus is the bread of life (John 6:35). The early church, sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need (Acts 2:45). "Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength" (Nehemiah 8:10). How much of are you going to give away? Freely you have received, freely give, Jesus said.
Sing: Give! And it shall be given, good measure pressed down shaken together and running over, give and it shall be given, when you give, you give to the Lord!
