2012 March 29 - Morning Manna

There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. (1 John 4:18)
Today's Morsel: What would you say is the number one thing you are afraid of? When I was young, I was afraid of Roller Coasters, Ferris Wheels, and the Bullet ride at the carnival. But over a period of time, I was able to convince myself as President Roosevelt said, "All we have to fear is fear itself." Fear, John said, torments us. In other words, it causes pain, suffering, distress and anguish. If you allow it, fear will drive you bonkers. John tells us that he that feareth is not made perfect in love. He also tells us that God is love. "He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love"(1 John 4:8). So if we fear, we have an avoidance of God in our lives. And John again tells us, "Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world"(1 John 4:4). God is greater than all our fears. Because we are His children, we should not fear. So fret no little flock because God is perfect and God is love, and if we allow Him to be in us, fear will have to depart from our lives. God doesn't give us fear but love, power, and a sound mind.
Sing: He's bigger than all my problems, bigger than all my fears, he is bigger than anything this world can or cannot see.
