2012 March 17 - Morning Manna

In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge. The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death (Proverbs 14:26-27).
Today's Morsel: Do you ever wonder why there is so much talk in scripture about fear? There are different kinds of fear. T here is the “Fear” that torments according to 1 John 4:18. There is that “fear” that is not given from God according to 2 Timothy 1:7. And then there is the “fear” of reverence spoken about here. Now let’s look at these verses for a moment. When we understand the position of God; King of Kings, Lord of Lords, Master, Mighty God, Father, Prince of Peace, and Creator; we can see that His position requires honor. In the military, when a general or admiral enters into a building, they are shown reverence by someone calling everyone to attention. Not for the person, but for the rank and the position they hold. When we reverence the Lord, Solomon said, it brings about strong confidence and a fountain of life. And not only does it give us these things, but when our children see us reverencing God, they too will learn that they have a place of refuge and strength to keep them from the snares of death. Always remember, the best training tool is to set the example.
Sing: I will praise Him! I will praise Him! Praise the lamb for sinnerd slain! Give Him glory all ye people, for his blood can wash away each stain.
