2010 May 29 - Morning Manna

Then answered one of the people, and said, Thy father straitly charged the people with an oath, saying, Cursed be the man that eateth any food this day. And the people were faint. Then said Jonathan, My father hath troubled the land: see, I pray you, how mine eyes have been enlightened, because I tasted a little of this honey. How much more, if haply the people had eaten freely to day of the spoil of their enemies which they found? for had there not been now a much greater slaughter among the Philistines? (1 Samuel 14:28-30)

Today's Morsel: Have you ever been faced with trying to stay positive when others around you are negative? Negative people can be a challenge to be around. They can bring you down and drain your energy. A negative person can throw your best plans to be positive right out the window. Whether your children or spouse has an occasional negative day or you deal with a family member, friend, or co-worker that is chronically negative, there are things you can do to remain positive in the face of negativity. First, let the negativity pass. Whatever you do, don't argue with a negative person. Arguing with someone who is negative only adds fuel to the fire. A negative person will feed off any negativity that will strengthen their bad mood or negative attitude. As their negativity intensifies, the situation will only get worse not better. Sometimes the best thing to do is just remain silent and let it pass. Negative people need love. But how do you show love when someone is negative towards you? A negative person often times has difficulty receiving love from others, but offer them a hug anyway, even if you get rejected. Don't take the rejection of your love personally. Probably the best thing we could do is just stay away from negative people altogether, but that is not always possible. If you have negative people in your life that are critically affecting your mental and physical health and always pulling you down, then you need to evaluate whether or not you want these people in your life. Some people, to include some so called Christians, are so chronically negative that you have no other choice but to remove them from your life if you plan to make it to heaven. You can always find another job if your boss or other co-workers are bringing you down, or another church if the members are all chronically negative and lack faith. But others, such as your children and spouse, are difficult to remove from your life. However, in this instance, if they are negative and are bring your down, you may want to seek professional counseling. King Saul somehow lost his love for the people and what God had called him to do, and he had become very negative in his leadership role and it was affecting the people. But Jonathan, his son, was not about to let the negativity of his father destroy him. What about you?

Sing: Would you be free from your burden of sin? There's power in the blood, power in the blood; would you over evil the victory win? There's wonderful power in the blood.

There is power, power, wonder working power in the blood of the lamb; There is power, power, wonder working power in the precious blood of the lamb.
