2010 April 13 - Morning Manna

For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he saith himself, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, Until I make thy foes thy footstool. Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ. Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation (Acts 2:34-40).

Today’s Morsel: How much of your tax dollars would you think go to saving the spotted owl, panda bear, bald eagle, fish, or some other animal or mammal? It seems as though there is more push to save wildlife then human life. I mean, animals are now given EKG’s, heart transplants, surgery, and their food costs you more than a steak dinner. Don’t get me wrong, I love animals, but there is no where in scripture that tells me to save them. On the Day of Pentecost, after the outpouring of the Holy Ghost in Jerusalem, Peter preached the gospel of Jesus Christ, and the people asked him what should they do? Peter didn’t rush out and say, go save the animals, he said, “Save yourselves from the untoward generation.” If there has ever been a time to ensure that your salvation is based on the Word of God, it is now. Perverseness, corruption, killing, robbing, and debauchery have plagued this earth. With the devastations we've seen in the past few months and weeks, it is not a time for the saints of God to head to the world, but you need to head to the church and get rooted in grounded in truth. As the writer of Hebrews admonishes us, “Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip. For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward; How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him” (Hebrews 2:1-3). This is not a time to be Dick and Jane and chase after Spot. This is the time to be a God chaser!

Sing: Saved and I’m happy today, thanks be to God, for this I can say; that I’m saved and I’m happy today, I’m walking up the Kings highway!
