Thy Paths Drop Fatness
“Thou crownest the year with thy goodness; and thy paths drop fatness. They drop upon the pastures of the wilderness: and the little hills rejoice on every side. The pastures are clothed with flocks; the valleys also are covered over with corn; they shout for joy, they also sing.” (Psalms 65:11-13)
Today’s Morsel: Are you in the right path? The Lord told Jeremiah: “Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.” (Jeremiah 6:16) You see, when we are not in the right path, we can expect nothing but hardships and troubles to come our way. And I believe this is the reason that God is trying to get our attention. When we read in scripture of Israel’s trials and troubles, we often see that they were due in part to God trying to get their attention. God has your best interest at heart. He is not willing that any should perish, but He’s not going to keep trying to show you the right way if you keep insisting on walking the wrong path. Yet when we walk in the right paths, we can expect fruitfulness, mercy, blessing, and grace, to always be there for us. His paths drop fatness. They drop abundance and blessings. Listen to what David says: “The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.” (Psalms 23:1-6) If you are in the paths of righteousness, you have nothing to worry about. He will set a table of blessing right before you in the presence of your enemies. With goodness and mercy following right behind you.
Sing: I am blessed! I am blessed! Every day that I live I am blessed. When I wake up in the morning, till I lay my head to rest, I am blessed, I am blessed.
