What Are You Worried About
“Then spake Haggai the LORD'S messenger in the LORD'S message unto the people, saying, I am with you, saith the LORD.” (Haggai 1:13)
Today’s Morsel: Do you ever wonder why in scriptures it seems that every time the disciples encounter trouble that they couldn’t handle, Jesus always showed up. That is to teach us that He is with us. God can’t violate His promise nor go against His word. Some people like to think that God isn’t fair or that He doesn’t answer their prayers. But that is not a true statement. God always answers His word. God will not stop you from doing dumb things when you know that what you are about to do is wrong. And He’s going to allow you to feel the consequence of your actions and decisions, too. God came to the disciples’ rescue because it was Him who sent them into the storm, or into the area that they went. They always seemed to seek God for His directions. Paul and Salas were delivered from prison because it was God that sent them to Macedonia. It was God that told Paul that He would stand before Caesar, and so the storm on the route to Rome, in Acts 27, could not deter his journey. It was God who sent Peter to Cornelius’ house to preach to them. So, it was God who delivered him from the chastisement of the Jewish council. God is with us. As the Psalmist tells us, “It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.” (Psalms 118:8) So, stop worrying and put your trust in God. “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.” (Jeremiah 29:11-13) Are you seeking God for your direction? Then you can believe Him and trust Him.
Sing: What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and grieves to bear. What a privilege to carry, everything to God in prayer. O’ what peace we often forfeit, O’ what needless pain we bear; all because we do not carry, everything to God in prayer.
Have we trials and temptations, is there trouble anywhere. We should never be discouraged, take it to the Lord in prayer. Can we find a friend so faithful, who will all our sorrow share. Jesus knows our every weakness, take it to the Lord in prayer.
