Have You Been Washed?
“Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before
mine eyes; cease to do evil; Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the
oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow. Come now, and let us
reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be
as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. If ye
be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land: But if ye refuse
and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the LORD hath
spoken it.”
(Isaiah 1:16-20)
Today’s
Morsel: Okay, I’m going to age myself a little bit
here today. Most people have no clue that not long ago here in America,
people didn’t take baths or showers every day. They did it once a
week. Usually on Saturday nights to prepare for Sunday church. Most
homes didn’t have indoor plumbing or bathrooms. But we did everything we
could to be as
clean as possible. And I think
we turned out pretty good.
The
children of Israel wandered in the wilderness for forty years. And we see only a few scriptures where God commands them to wash and be
clean. Maybe that is because sheep get dirty too much. And we are
the sheep of His pasture. Or maybe that’s why when you get baptized in Jesus name you never have to
do it again. Paul said that the children of Israel were baptized by
Moses in the cloud and in the sea (1 Corinthians 10: 1-12). He further
stated, “And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified,
but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our
God.”
(1 Corinthians 6:11) The Lord said through the
prophet Isaiah, “Wash you, make you clean; put away
the evil of your doings from before mine eyes.” Scripture tells us, “And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at
Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and
finding certain disciples, He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost
since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether
there be any Holy Ghost. And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized?
And they said, Unto John's baptism. Then said Paul, John verily baptized with
the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on
him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. When they heard this,
they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. And when Paul had laid his
hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and
prophesied.” (Acts 19:1-6) Have you been
washed?
Sing: Have you been to Jesus for your
cleansing power? Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb? Are you
fully trusting in His grace this hour? Are you washed in the blood of the
Lamb?
Are you washed in the blood, in the soul-cleansing blood of the Lamb? Are your garments spotless? Are they white as snow? Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
Are you washed in the blood, in the soul-cleansing blood of the Lamb? Are your garments spotless? Are they white as snow? Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
Thought For Today: Sin can’t enter
there.
