Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 2018 July 20

“But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless” (2 Peter 3:8-14).

Today’s Morsel:  Have you ever been surprised by a birthday party?  I mean you are aware of nothing and then you walk in and everyone screams surprise!  I have had it happen to me twice.  I guess some may say well after the first time why didn’t you anticipate it being done again?  I really had no clue and no reason to suspect a surprise.  But let me ask you a question, If Jesus came right now would you be taken by surprise?  Sad to say, that’s what’s going to happen to many.  They are not going to be ready. They are going to be taken by surprise.  The five foolish virgins had no oil.  And when they went to get more, they missed the entrance into the open door.  Peter said that Jesus coming is going to be as a thief in the night. Thieves do not tell you when they are going to rob your house. They are going to do it when you are not home or watching. Friend, Jesus is coming. I don’t know when, but I plan to be ready and watching. What about you?  His coming is not without warning, the day and time is going to be a surprise, but we are not without warning.  Be ready.

Sing:  O’ my brother are you ready for the call?  To crown your Savior King and Lord of all?  The kingdoms of this world shall soon before Him fall, we shall see the King when He comes.
We shall see the King!  We shall see the King!  We shall see the King when He comes.  He’s coming in power, we’ll hail the blessed hour.  We shall see the King when He comes.

Thought For Today: Don’t get caught by surprise. Watch and be ready.
