Keep Your Eyes On The Ark
“And Joshua rose early in the morning; and they removed from Shittim, and came to Jordan, he and all the children of Israel, and lodged there before they passed over. And it came to pass after three days, that the officers went through the host; And they commanded the people, saying, When ye see the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, and the priests the Levites bearing it, then ye shall remove from your place, and go after it. Yet there shall be a space between you and it, about two thousand cubits by measure: come not near unto it, that ye may know the way by which ye must go: for ye have not passed this way heretofore.” (Joshua 3:1-4)
Today’s Morsel: Israel was now ready to cross into the Promise Land that God had promised them. They had spent 40 plus years in the wilderness for a lack of faith, but now they were ready to cross over. Joshua, who was now their new leader due to the death of Moses, was ready to lead them over. And so, he gave the people the command to set a distance between themselves and the Ark of Covenant of the Lord of about 2000 cubits or a half mile. This would allow them to see and know where God was leading them. We are getting ready to cross over into another year. We have not been this way before. So keep your eyes on God and His Word and let’s see where He will lead us.
Sing: Just over in the glory land, I’ll join the happy angel band, Just over in the glory land; Just over in the glory land, there with the mighty host I’ll stand, Just over in the glory.
Thought For Today: “Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.” (Luke 12:32)
