Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 2024 November 7

What Makes You Thankful?

“Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.” (Romans 1:21)

Today’s Morsel: If someone were to ask you what makes you thankful, what would be your answer? Solomon states: “The horseleach hath two daughters, crying, Give, give. There are three things that are never satisfied, yea, four things say not, It is enough: The grave; and the barren womb; the earth that is not filled with water; and the fire that saith not, It is enough.” (Proverbs 30:15-16) You see, when we are not satisfied within ourselves it often shows a lack of thankfulness in our heart. One of the things that I do daily to keep myself thankful, is I begin my day with prayer by thanking God for ten things that I am thankful for. Things such as my wife, my children, our home, our vehicles, my church, my salvation, my Bible, my leaders, my pastor, my health, and my list could go on!  You must identify what makes you thankful and let God know often that you are thankful for these things.

Sing: Are you weary, are you heavy hearted? Tell it to Jesus, tell it to Jesus; are you grieving over joys departed? Tell it to Jesus alone. Tell it to Jesus, tell it to Jesus, He is a friend that’s well known. You have no other such a friend or brother, tell it to Jesus alone.

Thought For Today: “Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.” (Psalms 100:4)
