2013 April 13 - Morning Manna

But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen: And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain. Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God; because we have testified of God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead rise not. For if the dead rise not, then is not Christ raised: And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins. Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished. If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.
(1 Corinthians 15:13-19)

Today's Morsel: There is a saying, "Misery loves company." In other words, those who are miserable will always look for others who are miserable to hang with. Paul said that if in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable. WOW! His call is not for us to not trust and serve God here and now, his call is for us to look to the future. Where we are headed. Where are we going. Jesus went to prepare a place for us. Therefore, we should be seeking to go there. We are going to a better city. A city where there will be no night; a city where Jesus is the light. But if one doesn't look forward to that city, he won't find it and he will be miserable. Jesus said that the kingdom of heaven is like a man who finds a treasure in a field. He sells all to buy the field. What he has is not as important as what he has found. I know for me, this world cannot compare to Jesus. Peter said, "Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless. And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction. Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness. But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen" (2 Peter 3:13-18). If you are filled with misery, where is your focus? Jesus has gone to prepare a place for us, we can look forward to that day with joy and expectation.
Sing: I'm pressing on the upward way, new heights I'm gaining every day; Still praying as I'm onward bound, "Lord plant my feet on higher ground."
Lord, lift me up and let me stand, by faith on heaven's table land, a higher plane than I have found; Lord plant my feet on higher ground.
