This is the disciple which testifieth of these things, and wrote these things: and we know that his testimony is true. And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen. (John 21:24-25)
Today's Morsel: When I walk into my library, I'm amazed at the number of books I have read since my salvation. Before my salvation, I never read a book if it didn't deal with my job or some school requirement. But after my salvation, I saw the need to study to show myself approved of God. I desire to be a workman that is not ashamed. Abraham Lincoln said, " The day you stop learning is the day you stop leading." John said, "And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written." Can you image the number of books that would be written about Jesus if all His works were to be recorded? What if every born again believer wrote about what Jesus did for their life? We each hold and read our Bibles, but think about what isn't in it about Jesus. We only have the tip of the iceberg. I often wonder what the Holy Ghost did through some of the 3,000 that were converted on the day of Pentecost (Acts 2:41). Or the other 500 that He appeared to after His resurrection ( I Corinthians 15:6). I wonder if Nicodemus, Timothy or Titus wrote a book? The men on the road to Emmaus said, "Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?" (Luke 24:32). Scripture also says, "And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest? And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him. The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth: In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth. And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man? Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus. And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him. And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing" (Acts 8:30-39). When you read books about Jesus and don't understand, pray that He will send someone to instruct and give you understanding, as wisdom without understanding is dangerous.
Sing: Tell me the story of Jesus, write on my heart every word, tell me the story most precious, sweetest that ever was heard. Tell how the angels in chorus, sang as they welcomed His birth, Glory to God in the highest! Peace and good tidings to earth.
